I have a C6 ZR1, I would not mind a second C6 with the 6L80E. Seems like a good transmission and having rev matching downshifts for the time was rare in the market. I’d go for a base convertible I think. Maybe a GS.

I'd be willing to bet it's never been properly remapped after the upgrades. The whole paddleshift system is built to be reprogrammed against any current and future upgrades.

any gripes with owning a c6? I'm in the electrical union and over the next few years my paychecks are gonna become pretty large compared to what I'm used to so I'd love to pick one of these up as a weekend car. Looking at a c5 or a c6 base. Dont really need a z06 but if I realize I can afford one then I'd probably grab that instead. But budgeting about 20k cash for a base corvette with the targa top, they any good? I don't need to be the fastest thing around, I've got sport bikes for that

Get one and dont look back brother!!! It will treat you as good as you treat it. Dog it out and neglect it and it wont last long. Take care of it and it can be driven daily in heavy los angeles traffic.

How do you rewire the paddles? I HATE when I pull the right paddle and it downshifts. So counterintuitive. Left should be down, right should be up! As soon as I get the info, I'm going to rewire mine. Thanks!

If you pull the airbag off, gain access to the electrical connector of the right paddle, all you have to do is cut 2 of the 3 wires and switch them and reconnect them. For mine it was the two outside wires, i think. you should meter the clip when you pull the button and push the button to figure out what wires to switch. I should have made a video of it, but i dont own that car anymore.

Bret D. It’s parked for the winter but when I get it back in the garage I could make a video. It is pretty simple. Just pull the horn/airbag out and switch 2 wires on the right paddle.

I didn’t notice it shift any faster with traction control off but it is a lot more dangerous. When it shifts it kicks the rear out and a lot easier to lose control.

would it be faster to shift down in manual mode to like around 4000 rpm, then when you start racing put the transmission into drive mode and let the computer shift for you? I know in other cars like the camaros it's way faster that way.

Bro If you wanted to shift manually get a manual or else leave it i drive and let the tuner tune the trans properly. No paddle shifted autos work well unless ypu have a dct trans

There are many dct transmissions that have annoying lag too, and there are good reasons to "manually" shift an automatic (which is _probably_ the reason it is an option).

I have been looking for a film about shift time using the paddle shifters on a 2006 or newer Corvette C6. Can you program the shift time on the transmission on a 2006 and newer Corvette C6 like you can do on my Mercedes SL? On my SL you can easy program the shift times via the diagnostic port

Do you think the supercharger and the tune has something to do with the delayed shifts? I've heard people say that even the 2008 which is 4 years older than your car shifts pretty quick. You would think by 2012, the shifts would be improved. Maybe there is some transmission tuning/programming to be done? I'm not sure.

I think the tune makes it shift a bit quicker. The problem with this video is it’s hard to hold the throttle wide open for too long (majorly speeding) and show how fast it actually shift under full acceleration. It shifts super slow when you’re not on the gas and faster when at wide open throttle. Still slower than desired either way

I live in miami too! but I have a manual C5 and honestly its not so bad where I live, which is in kendall FL. I want to get an auto C6 corvette grand sport though so I dont have to worry about the heavy traffic times here.

This makes me sad. I was thinking of getting rid of my C5 (6spd) and picking up a C6 (auto) just because of the amount of traffic here. I had higher hopes for the c6 auto but the speed on that shift was disgusting, lol. The only thing I can really think of that I'd be willing to buy under 20k is an M3. I know the SMG shifts beautifully but comes with it's own set of issues.

The C6 paddle shifters were greatly improved for 2008. Paired up with the new ls3 you can have a lot of fun with it. I use my '08 paddles 99% of the time. Once you get the shift timing memorized @ 6,000 rpm's, it's a blast. Maximum performance is only achieved by putting the gear selector in S for sport mode and let the computer do the work, no paddles used.

12-13 is alot better, my grandsport is an 11 and has more delay and you even feel that the throttle closes on the shift. I tuned it and now shifts great, though i dont use the paddles to up shift, just to down shift to get in the power band before a race and car automatically upshifts

adrian starks it is pretty simple, just remove the airbag center piece, and unbolt the paddle. Then on the electrical clip on the paddle, switch the 2 outside wires. Then put everything back together
