Love these videos. I am currently working on figuring out how to put a v twin motor on my boat. But my Vtwin is off of a motorcycle. Off of a vn900 custom Kawasaki motorcycle. Awesome video! Would love to see 420cc hoped and ran against the stock 670cc. I’ve been doing research on these longtails and they seem to run best between 6000 and 7000 rpm. Makes sense now why most outboards WOT in that range. I think it would be a good race since the stage 2 kit and stock 420 cost about the same as a 670 stock and there’s about a 40lbs weight savings
@SendItJonBoats2 жыл бұрын
I will be dropping some serious time and work on some 420's this year. Like you I think it is the best bang for the buck hands down and it makes some crazy power for being a single cylinder. I am hoping after I get the builds done I can find a dyno to put them on, that will be a great video.

until someone drops the coin in there 670, remember the old an true saying, there's no replacement or displacement, if the 420+hp parts= the same price (or close enough) to the 670 then you're in a much better place buying the 670 to begin with (that's why i laugh at riceburners 🤣).........

@SendItJonBoats2 жыл бұрын
I replace the air filter every year, they do not get that dirty since there is not much dust on the lakes and rivers. I run a cheap portable 6 gallon gas tank for now. Eventually I will make a gas tank that fits under the back bench.

Just playing scooters advocate here... A pop rivet is a lot different from a solid rivet... Still welding isn't always all that great. especially on aluminum. Annealed aluminum has the structural integrity of bubble gum. And hardening aluminum required knowledge of the alloy being used an oven with precise heat control and heating of the entire part to within a small margin of the melting temperature. Water quenching, often straightening and depending on the alloy an aging process that can be 2 additional heating steps. There is a reason Jon boats are solid riveted from the factory. There is a reason planes are riveted. There is a reason some fancy sports cars are glued and not welded. That said a good welder can make the heat affected area small and some alloys can naturally age over a period of 96 hours to t4 condition. You just have to decide if it's important to have a rigid part and if you can get it or keep it that way when heat is involved.
@SendItJonBoatsАй бұрын
I agree, and I love solid rivets as well, but the average Joe watching this channel probably doesn't have the tools to do solid rivets correctly. But we will probably cover that in another video at some point.

I was actually suprised you were able to get the 6.5 to push that 1648 so fast. I was expecting something along the lines of 5 to 6 mph. Btw, scooter who said .050 is metric didn't bother to check context or realize that we use freedom units here. Technically .050 can be either a metric or standard depending on CONTEXT and WHERE it's being used. You can have a .050 millimeter but I know of no metal supplier or parts manufacturer that sells primarily to the US that uses that small of a measurement in metric, besides that metric size is close to micron scale so either he is an idiot or hasn't a clue. Remember scooter, millimeter is a long word, but a shortttt distance.

Good video showing the versatility of the different size mudmotors. 79cc= why does it even exist lol 212cc= solo 10ft to 12ft builds 301cc= double the torque of 212cc and mid grade workhorse for 12 to 14ft builds Might be a rocket on a 10ft not yet tested. 420cc= general workhorse for most 12 to 16ft applications. 670cc= torque monster for anything that can support it from 12 to 14ft vhull to 14ft to 16ft flatbottoms. The best overall workhorse we have found so far is Duromax 18hp 440cc with back up pull starter/electric start #xp18hpe especially staged one. That engine gives you the best value for power and 3yr warranty as well. Best overall engine I can tell for the price and warranty at $429. those weight limits are conservative - companies have to be conservative with those #'s just to be safe, the real limit is probably a little higher and the point where it will no longer be buoyant enough to remain afloat is probably much higher. That boat is crazy heavy for a 13hp, but I think with some mods it could get some more speed, but dang if it hasn't been the most reliable motor I have ever owned.

Excellent. You're no where close to the danger zone at 1100 lbs, trust me. Looking forward to some bowfishing videos.

What do you think a 212 cc Predator that has not yet been broken in is worth? It has a very long extension on it. Thank you in advance.

any recomendations on a surface drive? im just starting the planning stages on a 16ft tracker grizzly. heavy ass welded boat im a little unsure about a long tail on a wide heavy hull.
@SendItJonBoats2 жыл бұрын
Surface drive brands are like dudes fighting over chevy ford and dodge... pick one you like and go for it.

@@SendItJonBoats thanks for the reply, whats your opinion on longtail vs surface drive on a 1652 grizzly. its not a true flat bottom but ive only got 800 bucks in the boat and trailer together. couldnt pasd up the opportunity.
