From everything I have learned about mud motors, I have decided that it is a bad idea to modify them for more horsepower. More horsepower always means more RPM's, which almost always leads to a very short life for engines that will at times be turning free-spinning props. ☝🧐 If you need more horsepower just go with a bigger stock engine.

I have a silly idea that I have been pondering. What if you were to put insulation panel on the bottom outside of the boat then fiberglass over? What that increase buoyancy since the foam is then technically between the bottom and water?

I would love to do a build just like this. Appreciate you posting this content. If you ever have time it would be cool if you did a walk around your boat quick start to finish and links to all the items in hardware you did to accomplish this awesome work! What kind of boat is that also? When I look up Jon boats tracker griz is like one of the only Jon boats I can get to pull up.

No, I was on the Yellow River on that particular trip. I do go down to the 83 bridge on the Ocmulgee sometimes. Good fishing down there.

Hey scooter, how many sheets of stencils did you use on your paint job? How much did you pay for them? Do you have any links for the shop you got them from? How much paint in total did you end up using? Thanks bro!
@SendItJonBoats27 күн бұрын
700ish bucks, I didnt even count how many sheets but I will never ever ever do it again. Total waste of time and money. I scratched the hell out of it within the first 2 trips out on the water. I used 1 gallon of paint and almost 1 gallon of clear.

Glad to see some content on the ole boat! That build is the perfect cat rig. How has that predator held up without billet rods ? I wanna use a performance 670 governor bracket to get my stock mud motor up in the 4300 rpm range but I’m not sure if valves will float 🤔. Your opinion ?
@SendItJonBoatsАй бұрын
So far it's holding up good. Been running it around 4500rpms pretty constantly. I did the heavier valve springs when I ported the heads so I have not had any valve float issues. I plan on doing the performance 670 cam and rods at some point in the future to see what kind of increase in performance I can get. But so far it has been a really good engine.
