Rear doors are normally have Child Lock engaged at the latch, which also can be disengaged by sliding it to OFF position. BTW they do have working speakers installed but covered with a solid panels and it's very difficult to hear them working.

The 3.0t has better torque. I think in the real world it will be 1-1.5 seconds faster 0-60 in comparison to the 3.3L.

Those headlights are also used on the base model explorer, so it's not always going to guarantee that it's a cop. Some agencies will put the OEM retail explorer roof rack on an unmarked unit to help it blend in traffic better. Also, these vehicles do not come with a center console from the factory unless the agency orders the interior upgrade package. For the most part the center consoles are purchased from various venders (Havis, Troy Products, Jotto, etc), not the vehicle manufacturer.

If you're ever wondering if that black explorer is an undercover cop or just some dude in a black explorer, there is an easy way to tell. The police explorers don't have roof racks. They order them in batches without roof racks because they need to be able to mount the light bars on them.

I currently run the 2020-2023 models. I have been very disappointed in the performance of these PIU'S . They are very slow and throttle response is slow and lagging. The 2016-2019 PIU'S blew the new models out of the water when we put them head to head. Ford needs to go back to the drawing board with these newer PIU. Wish they brought back the king Crown Vic!

I read this all the time with Leo preferring Tahoe's. I was looking into seeing if civilians could buy a new Inceptor) was that they have a really good rear crash test rating(Ford says the highest at 75mph). I did see one video of a dude plowing into the back of one highway at highway speed a year ago with the Inceptor at a standstill and the Inceptor took it like a champ with the Leo walking out from the wreck looking fine. With that said Tahoe is bigger so maybe that is just as good. I saw one video of a 47 year old female Leo in a Tahoe ramming some drunk going full speed head on at her and she did end up in the hospital but heck she survived and got released so still impressive but I guess big SUV is bound to do decent against a car.

No, that's how they perform. The only one that is quicker is the EcoBoost version, but it's more rare. Most are 3.3L's, or the 3.3L Hybrid versions.

I definitely can't deal with this video, I can't concentrate on what it says and what it does. one- the car is barely on gas, I can't with the frustration of thinking that at any moment it could shut off knowing that you are revving it up to 7500 rpm. two- you have the lights on at noon, what? three- you run the air conditioning knowing that you have no fuel at all. other than that, I want to say that it is a good review and a very good vehicle, I have the 2015 3.7L model and it is awesome

I have only seen one Tesla chase. Even with the quickest Police car, you're not catching any new performance model Tesla. The ones that are limited to 135mph can be caught, but the fast acceleration allows them to easily get out of sight and choose a different path. As far as I know, Tesla's are all monitored by GPS and have cabin camera's, so they'll still know who you are and where you went lol

I’ve been a police officer for 3 years and drove the taurus and the previous generation explorer and they are both faster than the new one. They had better acceleration, responsive throttle, and they were more reliable. This new SUV has this weird delay when you hit the gas and they feel lumbering and slow. The only good thing about them is they do have a nice ride and there is a lot of room but other then that they are horrible police cars

This appears to be the light duty version used by investigators or supervisors. The street patrol model will have a cage in the back with plastic molded seats and ecoboost engine. Top speed on the ecoboost is around 149 mph and it will have better acceleration.

The cage is often removed at sale. A big amount of these Explorer's come with the 3.3L, and some with the EcoBoost. The top speed of this version is 137 mph, and 148mph for the EcoBoost per Ford.

@@vette-4-life The police car doesn't need to be faster than a Prius. If you try to run in a 6s car, you'll hit traffic and they will quickly catch up to you in their 8-9s Explorer once they gain the speed and momentum. Everyone gets out the way for them, but not for you.

@@DMCarReviews not a chance. The 3.6 VR6 in ours sounds incredible, but it’s leisurely for sure. The Ranger with its 2.3t (even the heaviest top trip Lariat Tremor 4x4) is noticeably quicker. Havent driven the new 2024 Atlas with the updated 2.0t, that one is probably quicker than our 3.6
