Many times, the Filipinos defied orders to retreat, but instead held their ground, one example is at Yultong during the Korean War. The Golan Heights incident is no longer a surprise for ordinary Filipinos because they know what they are made of.

On another occasion, in the mid 2000s i was flying from Hong Kong to Israel for my nephew's wedding. The El Al attendant questioned me for over an hour about the reason for my trip. We save/d, we help/ed, not only Israelis, Russians, Vietnamese, Koreans, etc, for a very simple reason; We value life, morals, and the principles we adhere to are designed to give GOD the glory He deserves. So, bear in mind, that every Filipino soldier you see, no longer lives for himself but for GODs' glory. He/She considers him/her self already dead (figuratively), relying solely upon the Lords' mercy and guidance throughout his/her journey/battle. Meaning, once we started fighting against aggressors, there's no turning back... The Battle of Yultong is one classic example for our bravery, and Tubabao Oddesey for our compassion and love for humanity. That's who we Filipinos are.
