As someone who installs these systems being your water means lift stations when they design the systems they are designed for scenarios just like this The reason you're running out of water is because you weren't prepared nobody made sure the lines were cleaned because they will gum up we've had valves stuck or pipes that corrode so you're not getting full water supply there's lots of scenarios that I guarantee nobody looked at prior to this happening. Also you can suck straight out of the reservoirs You should have a place where they can do that so yeah the government screwed everybody.

That will not cause what they are saying...The towers were not filled and their treatment plant wasn't pumping enough for the flow...Depending the size of the treatment plant if its a level 3 plant it should easily pump pump out 30million gallons a day and most use lime so to lower tuberculation which is from YEARS of buildup not because of ONE time use. Actually pumping out at high demands is better to go through any tuberculation....Tuberculation is more effected with low flow. The only thing they would have to worry about is maybe a broken main, if they have asbestos pipes in that area.

1:26 actually 99.99% of plants and pump stations have Expensive backup generators, we had one that cost close to 1 million.

While most plants may have backup generators, the loss in power can still cause the pumps to fail. Here in Richmond, VA, we had a snow and ice storm that came through on Monday. The main pump station for the city lost power for 30 seconds before the backup generators kicked in, and that was enough time to cause the pumps to fail to restart. The entire city of 300,000 people hasn't had running water for over 72 hours and there's no guarantee that it'll be back before the weekend.

Right, because there isn't a network of pipes and pumps with all kinds of water too and nobody like an engineer ever designed the supply systems to feed fire sprinklers, normal use, and fire hydrants all at the same time. Nobody ran calcs, no reports were ever done, and no system was checked or designed to maintain pressure and hence flow when there is a high demand. Oh wait. Stick to reporting and fire chiefing guys, and go consult with the engineers that design these systems.

I'll spell out the common sense for you - The potable water system is designed to deliver water at pressures and flow rates sufficient for both everyday use and firefighting needs. This eliminates the need for a separate, high-capacity water distribution network exclusively for hydrants. Using a single water distribution system reduces infrastructure costs - mains are already running down streets to give water to homes. Building and maintaining separate systems for potable water and firefighting would be massively more expensive, the water would stagnate and cause maintenance issues, etc....

@ first of all buddy I’m one of the best renowned pipeliners in SoCal and and all you need too do is retrofit the potable distribution water lines with tees coming of the reservoirs and stoppable fittings to redirect clean water against straight reservoir water, and of course it will take work but well worth it in the future. It should be easy being it weak ass water line work my grandma could do. Anything else?
