This is an amazing video and came right at the perfect time for me. It is giving me hope that I can make a living off flow arts even though my parents don't believe in me doing this. I knew I had to expand as a flow artist and not just do hoops and poi that's why I never thought about making money before. When I did poi before I was not using the right poi and I am so glad I invested in some contact poi and pod poi bc I am getting so much better with poi.

Glad this arrived just in time! I've been sitting on this for a couple months now and itching to get it out. Looks like my timing was dead on!

@@DrexFactor It definitely did come in divine timing. I remember the event at Weslyan and everyone I met there was so amazing and kind. I have not felt that way since before covid hit. I am aiming to attend more flow events so I can get out there more.

This is so awesome! Seeing my two favorite artists talk about making a living with Flow Arts! What's beautiful is that you guys both chose what to focus on for your income streams. One was content creation, the other one was performing and booking. Hope to see much more of both of you in the future!

I've only been spinning poi about 4years. I was very surprised when I got invited to spin at a town event as part of the entertainment among other flow artist. I actually got paid 120$ for like 3.5 hours. I couldn't believe my hobby flow turned into cash flow. I did realize at that event that I only had poi while other performers had multiple props. So yes I'm seeing I need to expand my skill set. Recently built my own fire orbital ,because that's were I orginally started and figured I could bring my led orbital skills to life with fire. Also have recently begun to learn staff.

Awesome video, great insight and information about starting a small business too. I just been doing poi and expanding to staff performing as a hobby, but I could see this become a small side business for me while I do my main job.

Glad this was helpful! Any flow business is likely to be a side hustle at least to start with. How to make the call on when to go full time? That could be another video!

This is great! When I first started performing, I was doing it along side a retail job and then it eventually started to pay my bills so I quit the other job, but there's no reason that it can't remain a form of supplemental income.

I have started to do something similar learning to swim like a mermaid, stilt walking (painter stilts), multi hooping, unicycling, walking globe, cartwheels, fire eating, Lyra and Tissue, silk fans, diablo, Costumes and 127 smart LED props for persistence of light with company logs can be pricey. ProTract Circus Schools want students to learn 3 disciplines and aerial arts are incorporated into the curriculum. Students have to do splits, yoga, and gymnastic skills before being accepted. Siteswap mathematical permutations is taught to jugglers.

I've been thinking about starting to monetize my flow in an effort to make ends meet a little easier. I wonder if there would be a market for discussing the mathematical and scientific properties of flow. I'm a very mathematically oriented person, and I can just imagine writing really nice equations that dictate the path which props take in certain patterns.
