Great talk! Shared test environments and queue sizes ....'agile' often fails because it is waterfall masquerading as lean/agile using Jira with lots of handovers and waiting, developers just being coders often not knowing much about the end use.

Has anyone found a piece of software that could pull Jira data and measure the value stream stats as shown here?

this is wonderful, but i bet that model doesn't simulate the agile team grinding to a halt after 6 months because no one ever spent any time thinking beyond the current sprint and never did any design.

It is gross simplification saying that things were invented at random. It was situation like in early times of microprocessors, advance in technology allowed to even think about realisation of some ideas. Cheaply accessible billions of cpu cycles and gigabytes of ram allowed to attack some tasks with acceptable response time. Also exponential growth number of developers made new needs and also made available workforce. This all was also multipled many times by Internet allowing knowledge sharing and receiving mass feedback. Also massive use of Internet generated need for data centers and allowed to rise such giants as FANGs with their scale and new special needs and market for even esoteric solutions. My mind is blown already 🤯

It's not a bad talk, somewhat rambling, and 100% recycled and mostly dated information. The water fall model straw man is boring and ill informed. Royce said in 1970! that the model is "risky and invites failure".
