I can confirm as a beginner that yes, LOS is difficult

When I first started with fpv I never had any intention of being that good at line of sight but since have video problems I've started to really enjoy LOS! I find having an odd colour prop can help with orientation. I have two the same colour on the back and what ever on the front. Great video, thanks guys!

This video is the reason I got better at flying line of sight. Thanks Ken! A cool tip for others that helped me is to adjust your radio stick tightness so it isn't as loose. It helped me stay steady by having that bit of resistance on the sticks

Yep. That’s how I started too. With a little Hubsan X4. I flew that thing until the board blew out of it. It was the hard way to learn but I feel I’m a better pilot for it. Now flying FPV seems like child’s play.

I just started flying FPV about two weeks ago and I am addicted i don’t know why I waited so long I guess it is harder flying line of sight then with goggles holy shit I didn’t think it would be I now have 3 tiny whoops and they are a blast to fly I’ll be moving up to a 3 inch cinewhoop here soon

I fly los all the time. Everytime I go fpv, I do a test hover/fly out of the goggle for 1 pack. Its fun.

I found myself flying my AR Drone 2.0 LoS a lot more than FPV. It only had a 50 meter range and the video feed was very choppy. I even ended up putting a bright LED light on it so I'd know which way it was facing. Flew my Phantom 2 LoS for a little while 'til I got the FPV equipment for it. The Course Lock and Home Lock features came in real handy.

Well said. I'm part of the our Emergency Management team. We train on LOS flying on a simple Syma X5C. We do different exercises. Buy the TOY!!! We fly squares, forward and back and other things to get the stick control and automatic moves down. It takes time. However, what is a good FPV drone to get started on?
@TheEviling4 жыл бұрын
When i took my license they had us do LOS too, before we could use the screen. They also had us judge the distance to the drone, just so we would get a feel for it. You gotta be able to get the drone back if the video link cuts out. Singh being able to fly LOS with gloves on is kinda amazing :)

It's a hard skill to learn, benefit is also you can fly a CP heli. Those little drones are great to learn but you have to find one that can turn the autolevel off. Some are always on which makes it easy to learn basic orientation but not so much acro.

I have over 4 years of just line of sight your control gets very good and yes it's atamatic your brain and thumb movement yes that's how I'm going from toy grade to race drone line of sight instantly being good at operating in stabilized mode across another beast

Yep. I have tried thumbs and pinching. For the brief session I ran with thumbs only I feel you can make faster corrections without your fingers trying to mimic what the thumbs are doing. Not to mention pinching like that I've noticed limits your further limits of stick travel as my thumbs become scrunched up to their angular limits to keep contact like that at the extremes. Still use pinching because it's a habit I forced early on. Gonna break that useless habit "IMHO" soon.

i came from rc heli the worst thing in this is identify the nose as soon it gets a little far from you hehe. watch the quad flying do some figure 8 and tricks its brings an extra level of bind between you and your quad, every pilot should do sometimes. tkx for this kinda a content that nobody seens to care and its nice to just comtemplate your model sometimes hehe

@TechnicallyTom4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, he wasn’t afraid for “you”. I can fly LOS acro, but need to keep the drone facing forward. In angle mode, I can handle the controls reversing. If you lose track of which is the front in angle mode, you can pitch forward. That does not work well in acro mode.
