We are a country that can’t wait to put people in jail but when it comes to helping people so that they don’t go to jail in the first place with programs that promote education no we don’t wanna do that. We would rather spend $50,000 a year keeping someone incarcerated than $20,000 a year so that they never have to come back and can be become productive members of society. We know programs like this work because for some odd reason other countries that send people to prison don’t have repeat offenders. They don’t run their prisons like businesses either that’s a whole Nother story but for some odd reason, all of our western allies send people to jail when they commit crimes, but those people usually don’t go back

FYI - Norway doesn't have large gangs, drug cartels, & immigration compared to the U.S.

This is good and similar to the European model of incarceration. Residivism rates are high but what this program does Is allows space for a favorable outcome at EOS and it gives the person hope for a future after incarceration. Not to mention saving taxpayers money and saving the judicial system from utilizing resources unnecessarily! Stats show that over half of inmates are on the wash, rinse and repeat cycle, however this model of incarceration is designed to decrease and stop the cycle. Thank You

Note that an inmate needs to be on good behavior in a REGULAR JAIL for something like 10 years before they are even considered for the program, this skews the numbers. I'd like to see the program take in random people and see how well that goes.

US isn't Norway and CA is no model. People being rehabilitated is the exception. CA mostly just releases criminals with no rehabilitation and non-criminals have to fend for themselves.

@JoseContreras-mv5yz yes and no, my buddy hooked me up w a job, we were driving home frm work and because his brothers were gang members, the cops said he was affiliated that made me violate my parole, for being with someone who wasnt a gang member but "affiliated" I did 8 months straight for that. The judge could of given me 12 months but since the circumstances gave me 8. It was a gang crash unit so i think they just were trying get quota

So how much more are we spending to give one extra person a career working with prisoners? I'm not convinced of anything positive for a taxpayer from this report.
