It's a protective thing. The idea of being wrong is so traumatic to them that they desperately need to believe what they tell themselves. It's what makes the conditions so absolutely terrifying in a relationship. You can show them evidence of what they said and they'll either refuse to acknowledge it or they'll attack you. For anyone reading this please keep in mind I'm talking about untreated BPD. With a ton of effort and constant therapy with a specialist once a week you can become very functional and can even have a healthy relationship. Unfortunately BPD makes being able to recognise the need for this quite hard so it's not super common to see that sort of recovery.

She was spiteful and knew exactly what she was doing they always get that way when they don't always get their way. Which in some cases can be downright dangerous depending on how crazy they are. She might decide to dump drain cleaner in your coffee over you forgetting laundry or something else petty. She's saying that she doesn't remember her mindset/knowledge of the time which is reasonable (not necessarily truthful) if you try to think of a memory you have from a few years ago but then also have to try and remember whether you knew something was coming up in a few days/weeks.

I love how they had Camille cross-examine AH rather than one of the male attorneys. She is ruthless in her questioning and sees right through AH's BS. AH probably thought she could boo-hoo her way through a cross-examination by one of the men, but Camille isn't having any of it and is going for the throat. Camille is doing an amazing job on AH.
