Hnnng, kinda? I don‘t want to see them just yet, as to not spoil my first reaction, but god DAMN, does what I DID see look GREAT! It‘s funny how it ties in with a lot that @Theinrich actually said about them, so I definitely wanna talk about it and have his and y‘all‘s thoughts about it.

I absolutely love all the new miniatures, but most of my collection is old fantasy adapted for the Mortal Realms. When you place fantasy legacies on round bases, you forever tie it to the Age of Sigmar. Plus possibility for crazy color schemes and conversions impossible in the old world. GW should think more about this.

Games workshop rereleasing old models again…

Yeah... I mean, at least we're getting truly remastered versions of them. With the Bretonians it's not THAT striking, but with the others like Tomb Kings and especially Skaven, I think it'll be well worth it.

@@BrinkofArtagain with the James workshop salesman talk is it? :P i guess it’s okay to have the remastered versions of older models and its good for the fans to indulge in true warhammer fantasy again.

I have to really disagree with you. It's funny that you mentioned Lego bases. GW is upping the bases sizes on a lot of the models in their revamped game, requiring older players to either rebase their entire armies or buy/make special movement trays to adjust. Also, while the two models we see keep some of the basics of the 6th ed. Bretonnian look, the horse is definitely an AOS style horse (with huge legs). I would really like to see this model in with a unit of Knights of the Realm, to see the real size comparison.

Aah, right Theinrich did tell me about the upped base-sizes as we talked a few days after the stream. Hence I didn't notice anything in that regard by purely looking at the miniature, I am now wondering if they upped the size of the models in general, just as they did with the Primaris Marines vs. Firstborn. That would ofcourse be a massiv punch in the gut, especially after I justed defended maybe the first good action from them in years. ^^' I actually got a handful of Knights of the Realm from e-bay, so when the Old World comes, I'll definitely make a comparison and revisit this video. I still think that my point in general still holds, mostly adressing the fact that the Old World will actually look like fantasy used to, which I still think is nice. I believe the "controversy" is more due to the way of how I advertised this video, which -looking at it now- is definitely misleading.

Also thanks for adressing the actual flaws in my video here; So far, the people who've commented "didn't even watch the video" before commenting.

@@BrinkofArt The coming old world will look strange. This is not Oldhammer or the "low fantasy" that grognards love to talk about. It seemed obvious that Age of Sigmar had been in development since 2008, in production since 2012, so many fantasy models from this period are actually Age of Sigmar models. Now GW is taking a lot from the Age of Sigmar to put into the old world. For example Phoenix or War Altar. It's not a good action at all.

I don't even need to watch the video; just reacting to the click-bait title demonstrates how wrong you are, especially since LEGO has been releasing tons of adult-focused sets, including nostalgia bait such as the updated Eldorado Fortress. Meanwhile, Games Workshop ended their longest-running setting on what was essentially a whim and with zero fanfare, unless you count the whole "End Times" event, which is universally panned.

Well, I can't really defend the points in my video if you haven't watched it, but your comments are still fair, as they are adressing the title of the video: Click-bait? Yes, I think I'm guilty here; I didn't know how to get the content of this video across if I just put "Discussing differences in design philosophies of LEGO and GW" here, so I ended up with a title that would raise more interest, but is *looking back on it now* disconnected to my actual points in the video. I can't agree on the examples your giving at all though. The adult-focused sets are nothing of what they used to be like back in the day, many being devoid of creativity and accuracy to their references, while simultainiously betraying LEGO's core mission with most of the newer sets being intended as display-pieces instead of play-sets. They also do in no way tie into the long-term-fans' expectations, especially considering the "LEGO city"-series, which is the main point I'm making in this video. They also come with an outrageous pricepoint, but GW isn't that much better either. The dicision to end fantasy also might've come on a whim, but was also understandable: People did start to gravitate more to 40k, as the miniatures where a LOT cheaper in comparison. The system was also a lot easier to get into as a new player, Fantasy boasting the most diffucult game-rules GW ever put out. And finally, the whole IP and copyright problems GW was facing with Fantasy, as many things just objectively are straight up carbon-copies of existing verses or too lacking in their own IP to warrant an effective copyright-protection. As shit as AoS was in the beginning, the writing for a new setting was long on the wall. Again, I can't really fault you for not adressing my actual points from the video, but your examples are just as flawed as you think mine are.

Yeah, getting the old battle-tomes for Fantasy has become an expensive Sysiphus task... but isn't there a fan-project with updated rules for Fantasy? I forgot the name tho...
