Very friendly video, good points and aptly reported. Security is an expensive habit and Germans are willing to pay for the good of society. As a German, I consider the rules (including low taxes) for alcohol consumption to be somewhat lax, but in Scandinavia the strict rules lead to more excessive behavior by their citizens abroad.
@PriyaIndianVloggerinGermany4 жыл бұрын
Firstly thank you so much for your feedback:) You are absolutely right, too strict rules only lead to problems in society. Thats why I like moderate liberal attitude of Germans:) So do you live in Scandinavia now ?

Hi! No I live in Germany. But a few years ago I had to save a drunken Swede from a pool. With my friend we would have to pull him out of the water, his skin was already dark blue. The reason: he drank alcohol for several days because it was so cheap. There was probably more alcohol in his body than blood. Fortunately, after the heart massage, he lived again and came to the hospital. The incident made me very critical of alcohol. That was forty years ago. I myself rarely drink alcohol, I can no longer tolerate it. Probably because of the strict rules for driving, very little alcohol is drunk in my circle of friends.
@PriyaIndianVloggerinGermany4 жыл бұрын

Nameste Here my comments about the lists: I hope you understand that the closed shops on Sunday means that this time is reserved for the family. All products are available throughout the week so there is no need to do the shopping on a Sunday. Earlier the shops even closed on Saturday lunch time. There are always some gas stations and smaller kiosk who have the basic food. If you say no - You can always say; Aber mach dir bitte keine Umstände , then you appreciate that someone takes the effort for offering you some food or drinks . Dressing room / Sauna/FKK -- that comes from the same time .. also the naturalists started already in the 19th century. Free body culture. There is nothing to be ashamed of , just be as you are. Especially in the Sauna you will find different rules -- like Finnish Sauna , you have a shower and then go in you sit on the towel , afterwards leave and have a cold shower hot steam bath you go in without a towel (with 95% humidity is doesn't make sense to have one ), you rinse your place with water , afterwards leave and have a shower. Try steam cabin , you go in with a towel etc.So each sauna will tell you their rules. Here in Vienna you have on the Danube Island some FKK areas and there is only a line and FKK means from here on it starts the free area. If you sit with a bathing suit , you might used earlier in chlorine water, in the sauna that is quite unhygienic. Most people drink tap water as this comes in really good quality. There is no need to bottle water like in India. The carbonated water bottle contains less bacteria in the bottle than non carbonated . That was shown in many tests. I mostly drink tap water the whole day but maybe a Orange juice with soda in the evening. Radler is always a good option - so beer mixed with fizzy juice. And all without ice cubes. I had this custom where they put that in all drinks. Unlimited Sick leave - that is not unlimited - here in Austria I guess no longer than 1/2 year -- than you need to work again and then you are entitled to have more. Also you dont get the full amount as after a certain time you get Krankengeld which is then only 50% of the income. I am waiting that you do a recipe for Malai Makhan or Malaba Parotti -- easy enough for an Austrian gauri. Phir Milenge
@PriyaIndianVloggerinGermany4 жыл бұрын
Namaste Austrian Gauri;), read your comment again and again. Thank you so much for enlightening me. I have been here for the last 8 year and still I am learning:). In India we have installed water filters at home but most of the Germans use bottled water at home. Your water drinking routine is so interesting. Orange juice with soda, yum yum. You are right about sick leave too ;) In Germany we have same rule like your Austria:) Hey, you are from such a beautiful city Vienna. I have been to Salzburg, lovely country with so friendly people. Try following recipes: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYmwiXqbq5eWfZY kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWmlemd5pM2sndU kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXzTd3WhoMqcldE Lachcha Parantha is same as Malabar Parotti. Sorry I dont understand what is malai makhan. its either Malai Paneer or Makhani Paneer, you mean that, oder ? If you can clarify that, then Your wish my command! I will soon upload the recipes of your desired dishes. Thank you again so much for your lovely feedback. Stay connected my dear friend :) Jaldi Milenge :)

The thing with the lockerrooms is just a case of cheap installation, in our old swimming bath there was a nice concept, to get into the swimming area you have to go through single changing cells, so you go in, change your cloths and then take a locker before going for a swim! Thats a good way to have single changing rooms.

It takes out the rush in life and let's you do just nothing without feeling bad about it, take a walk in the park, go swimming or watch NetFlix and such. You know, lazy sunday afternoon. ;-) I also guess, that if you visit home or another country you will have a reverse culture shock, because even on sundays everything is open and it is a day as any other day, not really a sunday. You'll see.

In Scandinavian countries you also go to mixed saunas - naked. And in the Netherlands I have even stayed in a hostel where rooms for men and women were not separate. What I noticed in India was that people were spitting without embarrassment outside in public.

I have to agree with MustandNancy55 - no, we do not drink beer instead of water. We still drink a lot of beer in our spare time (work hard/play hard kind of thing). Yes, Germany consumes too much alcohol per capita (11.8 litres per person per year - of PURE alcohol) - but we are not world leaders (thankfully) - that is Belarus - as you can see on Wikipedia. We drink 99.7 litres of beer per year per capita - which is less than a small bottle each day. The "naked culture" thing is far overrated.68 beaches on north and Baltic sea have parts of them for unclothed bathers - which isn't much. And they are usually not in the eye of the clothed bathers. Yes, there are naked bathing times in the one or other public pool. I never went then, for an hour or two a week that is easy to avoid. And in parks? You will be hardpressed to find topless people here in my town. It is Munich's English garden corner. And sometimes around swimming lakes (not officially cleared for swimming) people take off their clothes - but in parks? Normally not. Do not know where you got that impression from. For travellers there is the option at stations and airports to buy things (as well as in filling stations) - some people use that as emergency shops on Sundays when they have run out of milk or bread or so. Sparkling water - the carbonated part of that was invented to make the water last longer in a bottle. What we can do now to clean bottles has not been possible all the time - and you do not want to get sick when you drink bottled water. That is why we became a nation of carbonated water drinkers. But it is slowly changing. I myself have gone on to drink tap water - we have a very high quality tap water! Less chlorine than in other countries, and tightly checked several times a day to ensure the quality! Blowing my nose - when I was a kid my grandaunt kept telling me, do not sniffle, where is your handkerchief. Maybe there is a slight difference in the skull-bones or the nose architecture that makes clearing my nose by sniffling so much harder than by just blowing the mucus out compared to people from Japan or other parts of Asia. Look at the noses of Japanese people and the rather protruding German "face alcoves". We just cannot get the snot up effectively by sniffling discreetly. And we love efficacy. So blowing it is. Most people I know turn to the side, though to make an effort to not blow in your direction. Thought I'd give some background and correct your maybe slightly skewed perception.
@PriyaIndianVloggerinGermany4 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for your valuable input. Different people have different perceptions. I did my integration course at Freiburg. What I saw, my classmates saw and our German teachers told us, we based our opinions on that. Guests in my house (including immigrants) refuse to drink tap water. I tried to give just an overall view. I absolutely agree that all Germans or even German cities are not same. We should not paint the entire community with same brush. But I dont find anything wrong in German culture. I am very thankful that I have gotten a chance to live here. I have lived in many countres (9 in total) but Germany is my favourite so far.
