Gisèle Pelicot should be named Person of the Year by Time and other national/international publications. She is setting a new course -- bringing attention to horrific behaviour and shortfalls in French legislation, and turning the shame back on the abusers by standing up for herself and all women who have been sexually assaulted.

@ruthgiles8926Ай бұрын
@ingagud but their attitudes - I had permission from her husband, so it wasn't rape - she didn't actually say no - I was lured, so I'm the real victim - exposes the mental gymnastics and entitled assumptions of so many men. Dominique was able to find a steady supply of other rapists, within a very small radius, simply by advertising on the web. He knew that the brotherhood would protect him and not report him, and that there were plenty of men like him in the community around him. He was right. That's what's scary. They were ordinary men in an ordinary community and they not only relished the opportunity to rape a woman without her knowledge, but they turned up repeatedly, knowing they would never be reported. The fact that they were found out was a fluke because Pelicot cannot help being a pervert, not because anyone raised a flag about the website or advertisement.

What else can one possibly expect from a society mired in toxic sentimentality and pathological altruism, for this whole episode exhibits the intellectual and moral confusion behind penal policy both in Britain and France, under similar doctrinal influences. The very concept of punishment has come under sustained philosophical attack for many years. The European Court of Human Rights considers life imprisonment without the possibility of release to breach Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which forbids ‘inhuman and degrading treatment, thus a downward pressure on all sentences is exerted. That the judges could imagine no crime that put a person beyond the scope of bureaucratic forgiveness or rehabilitation, on a continent in which, within living memory, untold millions of people were murdered with unparalleled ferocity and barbarism, is profoundly disturbing. The judges of the court could be judges only in a society that had completely lost its moral sense, for a society that lacks either the will or the courage to imprison even the worst murderers for life, is a society that has no confidence in its own judgment, either moral or practical.

Changed France? She changed the world. The continuous statement that this is only occurring in France is ridiculous. This has happened to women all over the world.

"Shame swapping sides" has to happen BUT it HAS to start with MEN - yes not "all" men however it only has to be ONE man who does this to create fear in women so it MUST be men - perhaps it starts with just one - to do the most work in changing men's attitudes.

It has to start with men because men listen to men.

@@choc_chip correct and it is a male/men's crime.

One statement made is true most women know in their circle another woman or women who have been raped, assaulted or harassed sexually by a man. This case seems to bring this topic to the public’s attention.

A heroine. 🙏 This is not only for female victims, men too get drugged and SA'd. The horror in this case it was a husband doing this for decades to his wife.

If one drugs another repeatedly even if there was no intent for or act of ape, that in itself is a horrific crime. It is terrible destructive to ones' health. Why would he not be charged with that as a separate crime of assault?

But she hasn't changed France at all. The misogyny and violence and disingenuous gaslighting perpetrated by French men has not changed on this subject matter.

Get your story straight. According to French reports, it was the security officer of the supermarket who convinced the lady who Dominique Pelicot upskirted to report the matter to the police. They then checked his electronic devices......KJT.
