If you give Marty the 6 right crusader scrolls, you will on average end up with a unit that has capped literally every stat at level 20/20, with over 70 health. Add a mov ring to bring him up to 10 movement. Marty is obviously the greatest unit in all of Fire Emblem, duh

Gonzales is just absurd in Ch 21, everyone else is crossing their fingers that they don't get skewered or one-shot by a Wyvern Lord while Gonzales just sits on a peak, spins his axe and 15 Wyvern Riders and 2 Wyvern Lords go bye bye one enemy phase, no sweat.

FE12 Darros actually is quite durable that he can actually survive doubles at base on H3/H4 against some enemies even in the late game. He's basically Belf if you traded lance rank for axe rank. The Axe Rank def allows him to put in work with a forged Poleaxe and Hammer from the c15 to c19 range, Devil Axe access helps too. Darros as a sniper for wyverns and Swordmaster in 12 work out quite well with the latter being able to double and ORKO Ice dragons in 13 with rainbow potion and unforged wyrmslayer. Darros' speed is a little spotty in a class like Draco but a big forge can allow him to serve his purpose considering he can take a modest amount of hits. He's def a B tier unit in the context of FE12 and in the context of this tier list. Dice basically wants to be a swordmaster for reclassing namely for c12-c14 since he has speed issues to make use of draco in c11. He can ORKO Fire Dragons with Scorpio Shard with RP combined for c12 at base as an SM which allows him to do something. His growths are spotty namely strength but it's speed u really want for dice to keep up in Anri Chapters and then once 15 comes around, u reclass him to draco so he can utilize hammers and poleaxes although the former he gets more milage cuz generals. He isn't bad but u gotta put in a modest amount of effort for him to work.

Largo is in a game where you are guaranteed to have a full team of good characters because of low difficulty. In a vacuum, he seems okay, but he feels bad joining in that awful hill map. Everyone feels bad there, and laguz are really good vs him. So you get a bad first impression and don't use him again. Still, he isnt a bad unit if you are short handed in an iron man run.

I think it's worth noting too that in the actual hardest difficulty of the game (Maniac Mode) he's actually even worse, because he doesn't have the crit bonus he has in the non-JP versions of the game.

I wonder how exactly waterwalking looks when crossing the ocean. Do the pirates swim? Do they row in a small boat? Do their legs just grow so they can continue to walk? Are all bodies of water just really shallow in Fire Emblem? Or is there some random explanation in a game, like how mages move alright in sand since they use magic to clear the sand away. Even more curious for the pirates is thinking about pirate combat in water. Oh and good video!

As I've played FE9 more and more, my opinion on Largo has changed a lot. I used him a lot in my first playthrough when the game came out and he was part of my endgame team at least 3 or 4 times across my dozen or so full playthroughs. He definitely gets worse the higher the difficulty, and without at least a little bit of babying or maybe a dracoshield/ bexp to start, he's almost unusable on maniac. He is a very solid pre-promote among the several mid-late game pre-promotes the game gives you, but it really just depends on how solid your team you trained up, are at that point. I'd say he's very comparable to the other good late pre-promotes you get like Tanith, Haar, and Geoffrey, but unfortunately those units all have flying or FE9 Canto in addition to their combat prowess and Largo doesn't have those advantages. All in all, I actually have a tough time placing him despite how much I've used him. My gut reaction is he probably belongs a little bit higher, but not an entire tier since he requires little to no investment to be useful as long as you play smart and don't get him killed throwing him in the middle of the frontlines alone. Probably just above or below Dart, depending how much you wanna penalize Dart for the cost of his promo item.

Like yeah Ced is broken, but you almost never actually need ANOTHER broken combat unit at this point in the game… meanwhile Saias brings something unique by buffing your entire team by 9% hit/avoid and being able to use any staff in the game for utility.

I'm sad to not see Arthur from FE Fates on this list. He's not very good, but he's the perfect embodiment of the Berserker. Naturally, he's got the boosted crit from the berserker class, but also, all enemies within 2 squares of him get -15 crit avoid (he also gets -5, which basically brings him to 0 due to his crazy low luck.) This, combined with him as a support attacker, basically makes his allies act as berserkers also. And to take advantage of the support attack, characters need to forgo their support defense options, truly embodying the archetype.

Berserkers also have a passive negative 5 crit avoid in Fates, so Berserker Arthur is particularly crit-susceptible. He basically needs to be around his son Percy if you want him to actually be able to take hits and not face crit. Bronze axes can help too, but using a Bronze axe with a Berserker always feels so lame, since they can't crit. Even with Charlotte you have to be somewhat careful about enemy crit rates -- I've never done it, but I imagine making Percy a Berserker would probably be fun for that reason, because his crit avoid is actually good enough you don't have to worry about that at all. But yeah, Berserker dual strikes are fun.

I feel that berserkers are more like generals than swordmasters, which are who they are normally compared to. They are great to park on a peak and just leave there to murder flyers, but if you really need to get them around they struggle alot.

The problem with Berserkers in Conquest is that they directly compete with the best axe-wielding class in the game while offering little in exchange, and even a few drawbacks such as the lower bulk and crit evade penalty. It also doesn't help Gazak is capturable and super strong already with no investment. If not using as a pair up bot, Charlotte's best class is Wyvern Lord, and it's the same deal with Arthur.

Largo is useful when you're not using mounts/no bexp. Otherwise you are better off with most other units, Largo doesn't have mounted movement, he's doesn't have the effectiveness against Laguz and general advantage of attacking res like your mages, he doesn't have the availability of Boyd, and his supports are connected to mostly bad characters-mediocre characters. Hes fun to use, but in the practical sense you get just have Jill enemy phase a thousand times better than Largo because she's able to get into more combat, and she's likely to have stats above Largos because of her competent growths and massive availability advantage. Hes like C tier because of that. He still has serviceable combat though.

You know. I honestly feel weird on why Pirates, turn into berserkers. It feels off to me. Honestly. The Pirate's class promotes. Should instead become Viking class. Clothing for Vikings: They have pants with some armor on them. optional plate-kilt, over the pants for upper leg protection and covering the knees.. They wore a first-mate Jacket that covers the arms, but the chest is still exposed. The jacked is also plated with arm-guards, and shoulder-guards. And wear a Viking helmet.) They will STILL only use axes as their choice. But their stats will be different from a Berserker. Stats. if Fire emblem 6 thru 8 that is. Strength: 26-27 Skill: 27-28 Speed: 27-29 Luck: 30 (All classes can cap at 30 luck so..) Def: 26-27 Resistance: 20 (The str, skill, and speed. Well it depends if you want them Balanced, or more inclined for speedy fighters..) If speedy: then 26 strength, with 28 skill, 29 speed, and 26 defense. Else If balanced: Then 27 strength, 27 skill, 27 speed, and 27 defense. Have plus 5 to Crit. They can swim, so they can move two spaces in water-based areas. But to offset this. They can't climb mountains like berserkers. Something to make them Decent and good. But not OP, and they still are vulnerable to mages.

The problem with Dart supports is that three of his support partners suck eggs (Karel, Wil, Rebecca), one of them requires training up scrubs to the point where most people won't get him (Geitz), and the fifth one comes late in the game and regardless is usually off on her own ganking people others can't get to (Farina).

Geese and Gonzales Same Tier

Gonzy is quite a bit better. Geese' only advantage is higher skill and a better starting weapon rank, and his Con is too low to use his Brave Axe anyway with his 9 speed. Gonzy is actually faster than him even WITHOUT his hard mode bonuses, as he has the same base speed but much higher Con, and thus nearly always has better AS. He also has a 10% higher growth if I recall, and a huge advantage in HP and Strength, along with more levels to grow. His poor hit is made much better when he promotes, which you can opt to do immediately on B route (removing another one of Geese distinctions, namely that he can instantly promote). And then on top of all of this, Gonzy gets hard mode bonuses. He's a full tier better for sure. Geese, however, does have far better hair, which may be worth some bonus points.
