I think the 2 big things missing here are crouch cancelling and wavedashing. Crouching gives you less knockback, so if your opponent jumps in with a weak move or you're just at low % you can often crouch before you're hit, then down tilt after the hit. You've already seen how good down tilt can be and how bad his other defensive options are. Wavedashing is easy to practice whilst you play, as there's enough downtime between stocks to throw a few in. This is how i practice wavedashing even now, never going into training mode because i find it boring. Depending on how much you play, you'll be able to begin using it within a few days or weeks. Also, don't worry about quitters. They're either trying to protect their ego, or just want to practice against top tiers.

yea thats right! i noticed it since im using down tilt more often its really good! thanks for the advice

I really love watching new-to-this-game's-movement-tech players, it always helps the games seem way less intimidating and like a thing I feel capable of learning.
@azura_ssbАй бұрын
yea thats what i was thinking too!

I was expecting a video like the ones where people basically do nothing but live the game that they're learning for the length of time that they're challenging themselves to. I really like that you're just playing the game for a normal amount of time instead of playing for 10 hours, & reviewing vods for another 4 or something like that. Very simple & clean.

thanks! yea i wanted to keep it at a level where everybody can relate to, bc if youre not a youtuber as a main job, you dont always have the time to play alot

i think everyone develops their own way to play. i like to go fast, whether its competitive or not. some people like slow melee. and you can def play someone with either and win. but when winning isn't your only objective, it can make things interesting

Good video, it was entertaining and well paced! It could have been a bit longer(in my opinion) with maybe a few more gameplay clips of yoru matches but what was given was good 👍

gotta give melee a shot again, I've learned many things in the past like wavedashing moonwalking and gentleman. But I fear if I leave those skills untouched it'll fade away.

try brawl netplay instead!! way less likely to break your hands xD

a quick tip with game and watch is that if you get a nine use two judges agian you its possible to get another judge. Edit: i dont play GAW but i know some of the mecahenics

ahhh okay, so in melee you have to use it 2 times, thank you!

Word of advice from a veteran of the game: Practice SHFFL!!! Short Hop (aerial) Fast Fall L cancel. It'll allow you to apply safe pressure on shield and avoid getting sheild grabbed.

i heared of it before but i dont think it is possible with game and watch:(

@azura_ssbАй бұрын
what would you say are the most important mechanics to learn?
@matiasmoreno3562Ай бұрын
@azura_ssb I would say the general ones, L Cancel, Dash Dancing and Wavedashing. Those are basic, there's a thing with GnW, he is onle capable of L canceling a few movements.

This is the problem with slippi. People just jump on and play people. Slippi is a great tool later on, but newer players are really missing what we had before online and that is labbing and ironing out your tech skill. How you do against other noobs is not a good measurement for improvement.

i never understood the whole matchup thing. I just played anyone i wanted and if it was a shit match up then so be it. some people are weird about the game
@azura_ssb29 күн бұрын
i understand what you mean, but i think especially in „lower“ ranks, matchup doesnt matter that much
