***** Games don't even rely on CPU power very much. It's a moot point. You would get much better performance putting as much into a GPU as possible. If you are going to update in the future it is not expensive or difficult to change the motherboard, but for building the best console priced PC possible you are going to get better results with an AMD build. I have real world experience with it I build Budget PC's frequently My builds always get better FPS over all for AMD vs Intel at this price point. As far as the cost for upgrade we aren't talking about an upgrade you would do in a month. You could game on the AMD build for a year or two before you actually couldn't play some modern games with a console experience. In that time frame a couple hundred bucks isn't much. It's hard to get a good deal on a good PC, but it tends to be better on the long run. The games are usually cheaper and, if you do it right, it can last a good time. Here where I live, consoles and computers are *really* freaking expensive, so researching for parts and prices is of the utmost importance. I came to the conclusion that it's better to have it all checked to them save for a good medium-high end PC. On the long run, it's best to get a good PC, not the cheapest or more expensive but a middle ground one. It's better to get a PC capable of giving a good experience and lasting a good while. It can vary a lot from each country you are and all but it's usually like that here.

Jamie Gibbs DayZ is easy to run, and it's not really that old. Only about 4 years. Compared to other things that are 4 year sold like Counter Strike and it's one of the most played games still. So it's really not that old.

this seems to be a pretty bad build, I got a gtx 780 3gb and an a10 7850K(was going for the athlon x4 880k) build for ~$600 AUD(halve for price in pounds). it runs fallout 4 1080p on default ultra settings at 50fps. it seems normal for Fallout 4 at min settings to give about twice the frames as ultra.

Critical_Chaos 33 good to see another aussie on the internet(I take it your aussie). regarding the price I had some spare RAM, monitor, mouse, keyboard and hard drive(with OS) from an old pc so I would add that to the price if building new. I also got the gpu second hand. There seemed to be some frame drops with 8gb so maybe more RAM or a beefier cpu. for a decent yet cheap gaming mouse the gamemax M369B seems pretty good.

On my old laptop, which had an Nvidia GT 545M, in GTA V managed to get around 30-35 fps, on battlefield 4, I miraculously still gained above 30 fps. Granted, my game actually looked like someone vomited on my screen repeatedly. In Rainbow Six, the minimum settings were too much for my GPU, however I still got smooth play with 30-35 FPS. Upgraded to a full blown desktop PC once I had enough with not actually being able to see players due to the way some textures blended with one another due to their low resolution.

Sliq Nah man it is possible. My PC is on par with a console priced PC you get today. It runs BF1 with 40-50fps which surpasses the consoles. Remember, the consoles are even older than the hardware used in my PC and in this video. It is a miracle that they still run games on 30fps. They are slowly dying and that's why we see the PS4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio.
