over here in India a PS5 Pro costs 65,000 rupees (its expensive right now because there isnt a lot of stock) , and the rx 7800 XT alone costs 50,000 rupees 1$=83-84 rupees. im not kidding i checked and its 50,000 rupees for the card alone. cards are cheaper only in the US , other places they are much more expensive. maybe in the US this 16gb of ddr4 rx 7800XT can compare to the PS5 pro but elsewhere not really, for 58,000 rupees you can get an rx 6600 build. also most people are are downplaying the playstation are little kids who lied to their mommies that they would do "coding" "rendering" "animation" to get the pc but we all know all they do is watch youtube and play games, you can do that on ps5 too, it also has things like a browser, netflix , youtube etc. and most people just take a pc for gaming (i am talking about the casuals like all of us not office workers who work in studios) so in that regard even though people are clowning the ps5 pro for being 700$ its much better to get a ps5 pro over a pc , unless of course you are going to spend more money but then if you do that then whats the point of comparing?

Great video, but i have some nitpicks as daily PC, and PS5 player. This build is pretty good, and I actually am using something simillar rn, but: - if you're less tech savy, you'll need to pay somebody to build the PC for you, - I have PC with i5 12400F, and stock cooler is god awfully loud, while PS5/PS5 Pro makes close to no sound at all (I've tolerated it only a week before changing it to some tower style, local brand cooler.), - to be fair - if you're buying PC, coming from console/buying it as your first PC, then price should also include even the cheapest mouse and keyboard, cuz good luck with installing Windows without it, - DualSense Controller has mic and speaker built in, so you can easilly, even without headset, chat with your friends using Discord, - if this build right now matches the FPS performance of PS5, then I'm almost sure, that in the near future it will not, as console developers are more obliged to optimalise their games to pass the certification, and get allowance to sell their game on PS Store. BUT hey! on the other side: - PC games are cheaper, - BT on PS5 is virtually useless, as it can only be used to connect licensed headsets and controllers, - you'll save a buck, when it comes to online gaming, as paid PS5 online games, require active PS+ subscription

One aspect that isn't covered is that if you already have a PC then the real PS5 killer could be a simple upgrade. Your existing components may be good enough already so you can just spend more on a GPU, and if you have a Ryzen CPU you could upgrade the CPU too without needing a new motherboard. The big advantage of PC is that you don't need to throw out everything when something new comes along and I'd be curious how much better the PC does when you factor in the savings when upgrading instead of buying a whole new rig.

@syncmonismАй бұрын
Look, I think the PC is the more cost effective platform, as long as you know what you're doing. The games end up being way cheaper, especially as they go down in price over time, whereas the console games tend not to go down in price very much at all, and the consoles also have those subscription fees for basic services, which are quite high. That being said, the PS5 is not heavily CPU bottlenecked in general, it just can be in some very specific parts of some games, so you're just cherry picking an edge case to support your claim. The CPU performance of the console is also not equivalent to a Zen 2 CPU on PC, because of significant differences in the architecture of the memory, and also because of other efficiencies related to the semi-custom design, and also to the much more developer friendly development environment and development tools, which result in generally much better optimized games. Of course, what PCs lack in optimization, they tend to be able to make up for in raw horsepower. Even the now two generations old 5700X3D is a monster of a CPU, which somehow manages to trade blows with Intel's latest flagship CPU built on a process node that's two generations newer (TSMC 3nm vs. 7nm), and a great upgrade option for people still on AM4.

@@syncmonism You lost me at your second paragraph as it’s basically all false. Cherry picking? There are way more games than Baldur’s Gate that can’t hold 60fps due to CPU constraints. You’re right that the CPU is not equivalent to a Zen 2 CPU on PC-it’s worse. It lacks the standard cache and clocks of desktop counterparts and has to share bandwidth with the GPU. No amount of “optimizations” can account for all that latency. You can’t keep clinging to old PS4 games re-released on PS5 to say “everything runs great” when they use old engines with limited CPU demands. Do yourself a favor and educate yourself with some Digital Foundry videos instead of making stuff up.

It's honestly a great time to be a gamer. Xbox, PlayStation, and PC all offer great value for a really good gaming experience. They all have pros and cons. Consoles biggest con is the subscriptions needed for online gaming. We shouldn't have to pay $ just to game chat and be able to team up with others. PCs biggest con is setup and choice. It's not plug and play. You have to choose parts and then you have to set things up. Not just hardware if you're building but the software side of things. Setting up windows and then installing drivers and then setting up game settings. It's not for everyone. I would like to see a video like this one but for all the price points. MSRP of $300 for Xbox Series S, $450-$500 for PS5/Series X, and $700 for PS5 Pro. Factor in the cost of all the subscriptions needed for online play for 3 years on console ($180 for Xbox Core and $240 for PS Essential) and build a PC at those price point but add an extra $180 to $240 to the budget because the subscriptions aren't needed on PC. Series S I like would still be a killer value for gaming but not so much the others.
@makasete30Ай бұрын
I’d also add physicals. I can buy cheaply and sell for the same price or more. I can borrow and lend from friends, rent from the library. I even like having my own collection on my shelf. I also think console gaming is great for couch coop with family and friends in the living room. Switch in particular has a wide range of games that 4 players can play. PC evangelists forget, deny, or choose to ignore that some still prefer these things. PC convenience may have greatly improved, and a digital subscription future draws nearer, but these are still valid reasons to have a console.
@weez82Ай бұрын
@ yes. There is a long list of pros and cons for both pc and console. Unfortunately I don’t think physical media or couch coop is make or break for a ton of people. small note. no talk of the cost of the OS on PC... for those that *ahem* don't already own one. Also, the convenience of a console vs building and maintaining a PC shouldn't be understated. a large portion of gamers simply don't have the time or interest to learn the nuances of a PC. Personally, I'm in IT and working with PCs seems simple and straightforward. this definitely isn't the case for a very large portion of the gamer market. some people just want to turn something on and play without concern. these are both great options. maybe we stop arguing over which is 'best', and acknowledge that each has its place based on the user. to the creators, thanks for the great video, an excellent and worthy experiment, and one I was definitely curious about!

os price was mentioned in the video, you just glossed over it I guess. Its very cheap because you don't have to go for it from windows themselves, many sites have it at 8-30$. Also, the maybe 1 hour of research to build and manage is worth it considering how much freedom a computer has, including with gaming. no 80$ overhead a year that you HAVE to pay to go online for most games. game keys also go for 1/2 or well less than that of the original price of most games. You can't compare texture "quality" when the two systems have entirely different HDR/color grading settings. If you can see pixels in one but not the other, sure, but when you're trying to judge sharpness for example, the one with the levels skewed darker is always going to look sharper.

In my country (Turkey) the price of the ps5 pro is 50.000 Turkish liras which equals = 1.456 usd. With that money you can buy a 32gb 7500f 4070ti super build. So it may be a better option in U.S but there is literally no reason to buy that in Turkey.

It just comes out to your budget. Do you have a 4k TV? do you already have a PC? Most people dont have desktops but Laptops, so they do have a pc that can do any normal activity like browsing the web and video calls. So their choice is to gets ANOTHER PC or get a console. Also most people when buying electronics dont like buying used, so its like this: 1- Get a Gaming PC for 1000€, but they already have a laptop so you only get Gaming as a bonus. You also have a monitor that is way worse than your TV and your speakers are NOTHING like the ones in your Living room for the Cinema... so in reality you will be spending a lot more to get a better Monitor and speakers and Keyboard and Mouse and Mousepad. 2- Get a PS5 Pro for ~800€ and hook it to the Big 4k HDR TV with way better sound equipment than the PC speakers, you get to play awesome ps exclusives AND still have your laptop to do anything you need a PC for aside from gaming. 3- For 1100€ you can buy the new M4 Mac Mini 600€ AND a PS5 for 500€ and have the best of both worlds. But then again you have to get a monitor keyboard etc. All of this depends on what you already have, and considering most people have good modern 4k TVs... a console is way better value than having to buy a new good monitor that is at least 500€ as anything below that will be substantially worse than your TV. If you have a good job you can just literally have both a gaming PC setup and a PS5 Pro... If you cant have the two I would just put gaming on a second plane and focus in your career/studies. Having a better job will also mean you get to buy a better car/bike and much other things.

These are always a lot of fun, but has anyone considered what your time is worth? If I spent a single hour researching part configurations, OS costs, building it, and optimizing a single game, I'd have lost enough money to buy a console game I only have to insert. For someone who builds as a hobby, it could be a fun use of your time. For someone who isn't sure which thermal paste to use, it's probably not an efficient use of your time. All in all, I do enjoy overthinking these things and hope you continue to make them.
@thisishandlenumber2048Ай бұрын
I think you think it's much more complicated then it actually is because you're watching LTT try to nitpick and squeeze the maximum performance of their PCs. In reality most people look up a parts list, make a few tweaks depending on sales, use PCPartPicker to check compatibility, and that's it. Nowadays most drivers install during windows setup and if a game looks bad out of the box you just check reddit to see what settings should be changed. Otherwise it's as plug and play as console. The fact that you mention "someone who isn't sure which thermal paste to use" tells me that you've just seen too many tech videos without knowing the basics. Most PC users don't even know what thermal paste they have because they just use the one that comes with the cooler. The guy that worries about which thermal paste to use has a main rig worth at least $1k and 2-3 scrap rigs that he swears he'll turn into a NAS or media player one day.

You left one thing out: most people are still using a 1080p max 60hz TV. Not a monitor capable of much higher refersh rates in order to fully appreciate the extra frames. If you factor in a monitor which can utilise the hardware fully then you are over budget. Most people already have a TV. Not everyone has a monitor. Then there are other factors like the used components (as you mentioned) and the power draw which impacts the electricity bill. If you're paying, even a few dollars extra per month for your electricity by going with PC, it counts toward the total cost. The PS5 also comes with a controller. Althogh it's a small cost, it's still extra when coupled with the requirement of a mouse and keyboard.

@MasterrunescapeerАй бұрын
The price LTT is comparing to is without sales tax, $699 * 1.15 (VAT) = $803 which is around R15000. Do note that Sony does not have representation in South Africa, unlike most other regions, they're basically all imported instead of usual buy from manufacturer at a lower price. That said, there's a good chance the R19500 is them seeing who will buy within the first week, and then can say sale for black Friday.

A point to use against those who say its unfair to use second hand parts for the Pc. The PS5 is made by Sony, Sony is buying in bulk that you cant even immagine on the chips for those consoles, which guess what. Being how big of a company they are, making a buisness deal with another huge company. Im sure Sony gets a heafty discount on that, everything in that console is being mass produced and going straight to Sony which gives them quite a discount when adding it all together rather than if they were to just buy 1 of each thing, the chip, the manufacturing of the board, all of the resoucres to make everything that they dont source out to other companies. So its increadbly fair to use second hand parts. Your trying to build a entire pc, part by part having to get each part seperatly and not buying hundres of thousands in bulk.
@ZeerakImran21 күн бұрын
The pc parts are also produced in bulk. And by the same companies too. The ps5 also needs to pay so many costs for retail, managing such a huge operation, testing the hell out of it, developer relations and management, shop floor rent, software/os, returns, warranty, assembly, advertisement, help and service. Yes Sony gets a discount, but the development of their os alone would use that up. In fact, ordering components at that scale introduces many issues. There may be better hardware that the manufacturer can’t build at the scale in a suitable amount of time without higher costs to pay for the immediate investment needed. Also, tech companies capable of manufacturing hardware at that scale are limited to the point that there is little competition. Sony doesn’t have all that much power in this case. Sony also can’t invest or create their own manufacturing. It’s too expensive of an industry to get into.

The conclusion is clear to me. If you are going to play games, pick a game console: the device will always be cheaper and better in 1 thing, above all else; standardization. - If a game runs like ass on your console, it will run like ass for every single damn same consoles out there. - If a game runs like ass on your PC, or it doesn't even run in your PC, you turn to the forum and they said, "Runs well on mine" or "I'm getting 120fps just fine" 🤡
