Compound radius fretboard 10"- 14" means that the fretboard (and therefore the frets) have a radius of 10" at the nut, going to 14" at the last fret and all along the fretboard having something in between. So at the nut the fretboard is more rounded and at the end the fretboard is more flat. This is very comfortable when soloing.

Go for it, They’re killer guitars. I went with the standard since there was a returned one In the shop for a full $1000 less than the expert, but the pickups are good enough that I would spend the extra money if buying new

Nice intro tones. Shimmer to thick, it has some good stuff going on. I like the bridge and the two point trem with the non tipped bar. Good PUP's. FugiGen has been making great guitars for a long time (my 85-86 Fender Strat (System 1 trem) is a FugiGen and it is a favorite of mine) and having their own branded guitars is the obvious choice.

The word is basswood like the Fish(Bass) . Base is like at the bottom of an object that stands upon a base.The lower support. I didn't know you could play so well. I just bought a Fujigen FGN a BOS-M-TBS for a good sum. Specification says a basswood body. It is a warmer wood than say alder or ASH. Great Price from a quality company with a compound radius neck. Good playing .

The washers with the pins are actually there when you mount the switches to a plate. You can drill a small hole next to the normal hole, so that the switch is fixed and can't turn. Normally you break it off before mounting it to a plastic plate like that... And yes, I agree it's sloppy.

The Expert sounds like a very flexible all purpose guitar. Great sounds in there. Awkward: the matte washers under the switches' nut come with the switch and are mounted upside down! The stub in the washer should fit in a little hole in the underground to prevent rotation of the switch. But don't do that on a guitar. FGN should spend their 2 cents more on shiny standard washers.

pretty sure most brands dont put a huge blocki in it when they have a higher tier version of it so its an improvement when u go for the more expensive one not rly to cut cost but to make a diffrence in the tier of the guitars

These are pretty much AZ prestiges without some of the fancy stuff but at a premium price tag. Plus i think jamming a Fujigen branded guitar is cooler than having it say ibanez

Could you describe the neck shape? The only info on the net is: U-Shape. Thin U? Thick? There are no dimensions for neck thickness listed anywhere. Just U-Shape.

Mat Korade 21mm at fret 1, 24mm at fret 12. Not thin, but you get used to it.

I think I really like the Japanese pickups. Clarity for days. The setup seems better on the expert as well. You play better on it so I'm assuming it feels better for you to play.

@@rafajakubowski4747 I never did get a strat-type. The last thing I got was an LTD Demonology. I like PRS Silver Sky but I don't like John Mayer. I was thinking about modding a Chapman ML1 just because I can use hot rails and it has 22 frets. I don't like 21 like most strats have.

These two predates the AZ by a number of years. Jack Thammarat (2009 guitar idol winner) were using one of these (not really sure which one) after the Ibanez S2020 and before he's got the endorsement deal with Yamaha. At best these should be compared to Ibanez PREMIUM'S not prestige. For the price these don't hold a candle to Schecter/Ibanez! Where's the stainless frets, compound radius, carbon/titanium neck reinforcement, lumi side markers, etc. that you can get all day long for $900-$1300? These seem to be overpriced, under equipped crap. Go away FGN.

@@sirius_li The Ibanez AZ's are made to play Fusion and similar modern stuff, even though Ibanez insists that they can do everything, from A to Z. The Premium I tried couldn't, really fantastic clean sounds but boring, bland and sterile with any kind of gain, no chance of getting the thing to scream. Btw, what's so great about Duncans? Like I said, the one's in the AZ failed to impress me that much.

I do agree. Japanese guitars are just stupidly overpriced. I do like their symplectic flat designs. The T's guitars, fgn, schecter Japan, Tyler ,esp all have the same shape. Though, that said, even the esp is expensive isn't it?

Just my two cents, Fujigen made some 80's USA Fender products (at the time USA Fender didn't work properly) and taught how to use a CNC machine for USA Fender.
