I had never considered Wirtz going to Liverpool before, but that actually makes a lot of sense
@MrIkOgNiTo2 ай бұрын
I just don't think Liverpool is the club who's going for players in the +130m price category. Also it seems Bayern and Real will be the clubs who'll go all in for him (especially when Alonso joins Real) and i don't think Liverpool can compete with that.
@HumphreysTactico2 ай бұрын
@MrIkOgNiTo that's true. But I think both Madrid and Bayern already have enough attacking midfield type players (Musiala, Olise for Bayern, and Bellingham, Guler, Brahim for Madrid) Perhaps Man City could be the ones to go in for him if they choose to do a rebuild and sell many of their aging midfielders. Though I just remembered they've also already bought Claudio Echeverri. And I feel like it would also be better for them to sign a more physical midfielder, like Eberechi Eze, unlike Wirtz, since Foden is already much less physical
@MrIkOgNiTo2 ай бұрын
@@HumphreysTactico You're right but you were missing my point. Bayern want Wirtz no matter what! It's not even only about what makes actual sense but about prestige because for them being Bayern the german giant and having in Musiala and Wirtz germany's two rising stars playing together is a matter of their brand. For that reason at the end of the day Bayern is probably the only club willing to pay 130, 140 or even 150 million. Trust me! But Leverkusen will definitely prefer to not sell him to Bayern for obvious reasons. And on the other hand you got Real. In the case of Xabi Alonso joining Real Madrid he will definitely want Wirtz no matter what exactly like Bayern since Alonso is absolutely infatuated in Wirtz and they trust each other. The question only will be if Alonso will be even given the authority at Real to demand an expensive signing like Wirtz. Manchester City does have the pull factor of Guardiola but i doubt that Guardiola does have the same pull factor to Wirtz than playing together with his buddy at Bayern or playing for his buddy at Real Madrid. Apart from the fact that Bayern and Real are just bigger clubs than Manchester City.

Hi Pythag. How about making a fun video that I think you'd enjoy producing/researching. Could you rank 3 of the best (in your opinion) hypothetical UK national team squads ever. Starting XI, subs, and manager; all have to be UK citizens (basically eligible to play for a hypothetical UK national team under FIFA rules), and period accurate. For example, players from the 60s have to play with other players who played at the same time and be managed by managers who were managing in the same era as well, using period accurate tactics. Same rules for any other period you choose to pick. Then, rank your UK teams against the best national teams in the world at the time to see how much talent was produced in the UK at the time. Controversially, I think the UK XI from the 60s would give 60s Brazil a run for their money, but I'd love to hear your opinion on it. Thanks.

@PythagorasinBoots Thanks for replying. The mid to late 40s and mid to late 70s as well, they were arguably the golden days of England and Scotland, respectively. But I agree, the 60s teams will be hard to beat. I think the '62 team is the best to feature players from all the home nations in the starting XI, but I'll let you decide whether it's the best overall.

@ryanherbert48782 ай бұрын
High Praise. I think that the players that were intergenerational had evidence of a bit more ability to take the game on themselves. Someone like Cruyff could simply take so much attention of his team mates and deliver inside that cauldron, Zidane is an excellent example of that true GRAVITY those players have. But what Florian has shown, as your video helped solidify in my mind, is a remarkable range of passing and effective angles he can still deliver from. In that regard if his decision making continues to improve with experience he could well push his way through that barrier.

The "lack of physicality" in midfield is a myth. Guardiola has shown how to maximize possession and minimize the need of classical defending when he played Xavi and Iniesta in midfield. Win the ball back quick and keep possession is the best defense for this kind of players. And it works when you do it right. So, you don't need a physical midfield in the classical sense. You need players that are able to win the ball and keep the ball. That will reduce the time you spend on classical defending and makes best use of your players.
