Hey, I just have to thank you for an unbiased, not sales rep, or promoting style video. I too, was suckered into buying these, for the looks, but had reservations on the (supposedly) performance. My testing has not been done yet. Just mounted them on injora beadlocks, with crawler innovation dual stage lil nova wides, and will be headed to Knights Ferry ca. (our local spot), to see how they do. I have my doubts, because nothing beats 1.9 Jconcept ruptures, for grip, with lil nova foams comp cut inners.

My Capra climbs like a goat with the MT ProX tires and I couldn't be happier with them. Ftr, I bought the RC4WD MT ProX tires first but was unhappy with how soft the lugs are and how easily the roll over without providing good grip. I think a very light truck would excell with the RC4WD versions. Thanks for a great review!!

The best all around tires I’ve found are the Pit Bull Rock Beast XOR 2.2. Outperform every other 1.9 or 2.2 I’ve compared them with. RC4WD Mud Slinger 2.2 is also good when a aggressive tread is needed, probably the only time I’ve said an RC4WD product is good… Also impressed with the PL Hyrax for all around performance

I will definitely say they look the best, which means there will certainly be a set or two in my collection. If I only bought accessories and optional “upgrades” that actually improved performance I would have a much bigger bank account and much smaller RC room… I get more enjoyment wrenching than running it seems as I’ve gotten older. More trips to the local RC shop to buy a $10.00 part have ended with me building 2 or 3 new kits…

This a very useful video. Those new tires look like a monster truck tire. I think your statement about the surface you run on could make a difference is correct. As someone mentioned they do well in snow. Would different inserts or no inserts make a difference? I don't much about crawling. But, in other forms of r/c after your tires a broken in they improve. Can that apply to crawling tires?
@RoadsideRC2 жыл бұрын
You are right - surface, break-in, and foams all play a part! I will continue to tweak these tires to see if I can get better performance from them.

A tire test in the woods would be so awesome! The woods and the creek are my preferred spots and nobody seems to test tires there! Only on super grippy rock! @@RoadsideRC do you think these would fit on something like a 21 trx4 bronco? They don’t seem THAT much larger than the canyon trails? Especially sitting on the axle, the overall height doesn’t matter only the amount it’ll stick up into the wheel well 🤔

@Roadside RC I just bought 2 sets of these Treal rims and tried to mount a set on my Axial SCX10 III Early Model Bronco. I'm bummed out because they won't slide all the way onto the 12mm hub. I'm confused as heck, because I don't see any obstruction, but it won't go all the way flush. Any insight?

@@RoadsideRC Hey, thanks for the reply. Not hitting portals, these are straight axels. I put the nut on and tightened it down slowly. It actually pulled it on without too much trouble. It may be a bugger to pull off at some point, but I think the tolerances are just super close.

@@RoadsideRC I've been running Pro-Line MT Baja Pro X in predator compound on several of my TRX-4s, specifically a Sport with Treal rims and used that truck to go "crawling" for the first time with friends at a local crawling spot. My Sport out climbed many of the established trucks and surprised a few of the old timers who I stayed with through many of the difficult climbs! I have a Vanquish and the Sport outperforms it to! To my way of thinking, its all about getting the weight and tire right. I try to keep things as light as possible, but put the weight where its needed. Tires need to be sticky regardless what you're trying to accomplish. I like the MT Baja Pro X here in the PNW because of the snow and loose terrain I drive in where these tires just get the job done! Many of my Trail Trucks use the Hyrax tires because they are a great "snow tire" if you get the weight just right, they work extremely well. Both of my Capras wear the MT Baja Pro X in predator compound and are very hard to stop! I'm an all-around kind of RC guy that runs a lot of logging roads and basalt rock.

again...testing new tires against tires that are already 'worked in'. I watch everyone's tire testing and most do this. It's simply not an even comparison.
@RoadsideRCАй бұрын
Simple reason: cost. If I had the funds to buy all new every time, then it would be great. Turns out - that just costs too much.
@douggregoryHOTMotorsportsАй бұрын
@RoadsideRC the best solution is to run the new tires a bit then test. I didn't mean all new tires. Point being the tires are only new once. The performance of the tire as new just isn't relevant.
