Lyijy = lead, kynä as you know is any pen.. so it's a lead pen = pencil :) It's a crazy language for sure but those compound words are nice because you don't need to learn so many specific words. I would've liked to see your face at "kuulakärkikynä" ... of course that's easy if you know the parts: kuula = ball, kärki = tip/point, kynä = pen, so it's a ballpoint pen, surprisingly close to the English counterpart :) Others you weren't so sure about were oikea = right (also as in a right answer = oikea vastaus), vasen = left, jalka = foot, sääri = leg, nenä = nose, juna = train, laiva = ship. Great job anyways and entertaining as always :)

A couple of things I noticed... Question E: You are 100% correct in thinking that there is no translation for "please" in Finnish language, at least not in the way you were thinking. Instead of having separate word for "please" in questions or requests, politeness is kind of integrated into the question otherwise. For example, if you ask something like "Could you give me that magazine please?" = "Voisitko antaa minulle tuon lehden?", indication of politeness is contained within the word "voisitko", which translates as "could you". Not-so-polite version would be "Anna minulle tuo lehti" = "Give me that magazine", and that's pretty much an order. Edit: It can be translated as a verb of course; miellyttää, ilahduttaa (to give satisfaction, joy or even delight). But that's a very different usage of "please". Question X: "Ranta" alone in Finnish language can mean any sort of shore -- on a pond, lake, sea or even a river. However, when you add the word "hiekka" (sand) into it, you get the compound word "hiekkaranta", which literally means a "sandy beach". When you say you're going to beach, you are usually going there to swim or sunbathe, not to crawl in bushes at a random shoreline. ;) You can also form a word "veneranta" (boat+ shore), which means a place that is intended for parking small (row)boats. Question AL: "Mushrooms" would mean any species of mushroom (sieni) in general. "Herkkusienet" is a plural form of "herkkusieni", which is a specific type of mushroom (Agaricus bisporus). There also seems to be a serious factual error in this question, as the drawing seems to resemble another species called "herkkutatti" (Boletus edulis). Am I nitpicking here? Maybe not, because herkkusieni is more common in Southern Europe, while herkkutatti is one of the most commonly known mushroom species here in Finland. :P --- Ps. Also, if you have trouble pronouncing "polkupyörä", feel free to try this theoretical compound word with 9 vowels in a row -- "hääyöaieuutinen". It's literally never used, but it would mean a news article about someone's intention of doing something specific during his/her wedding night. That *could* become a thing some day, right? And here's the breakdown of that word for you: Hää = Singular form of "häät" (wedding), only used in compound words Yö = Night. Aie = Rare short form of "aikomus" (intention) Uutinen = News article A very fun language, isn't it? :P

Your pronunciation is impressive!😃👍🏼 There basically isn’t a word for “please” in Finnish, so there are various other words and phrases used instead which fulfil the same purpose. I’d say “ole kiltti” (be kind/be so kind as to…) is a bit outdated as the only person I remember using it frequently was my grandmother. Nowadays if you just say “please” in English, basically everyone will understand you (which is what I say, as lived in the UK so long that it’s a tick by now). Another word that doesn’t have an exact equivalent is “have.” If you want to say “I have a car” you have to say “minulla on auto” (a car ’exists’ with me/I possess a car) or ”minä omistan auton” (I own a car). This was an interesting quiz. I wonder if there’s an equivalent one for Japanese. 🤔

"Please" is kind of word which is included in sentences pretty variable ways. It is way more simplier in English language because you just add "please" after every word if you want to be polite. In Finnish language you can use that one word in so many ways to be polite. Example "could you hand me that sugar, please", you can use "Antaisitko sokerin" where word 'antaa' (to give) is transformed into more formal word which itself is a almost same as saying "Annatko sokerin, kiitos" but antaisitko word is more like asking it in a more formal way. You can compare it more by thinking if you say "give it to me" instead of "could you give it to me" without the word please. Its formal and more polite way. "Please" as a word itself in Finnish lang is more like "kiitos" added in after the sentence which means "thank you". If you want to butter your woman next time you ask some sugar, you can say "Antaisitko sokerin, kiitos" 🙂

"Hyvää päiviää" no wonder it's free.. 😂 Also afternoon=iltapäivä, but there is no such option and is so wrong in Finnish, "ilta" is after "päivä" and somehow it's trying to say with "ilta" that it starts at "keskipäivä". Afternoon is literally after noon, so it should be "keskipäivänpäivä" or at least "päiväilta" to have them right way around (but that would point to much later time).
