Reguillon and Thiago are what he requires to realize his true potential. I also wonder if Ole will attempt to play Pogba as a deep-lying play maker to utilize his long ranger passing with 2 super pressing advanced 8s in VDB and Bruno. VDB is thought to be at his bes as a DM by many Ajax fans. Im skeptical of that but it might be worth trying to fit all 3 in the same mid. The diamond isnt an option due to the lack of width from our fbs. He did do really well as deep 8 initially but Ole changed his tactics then which ruined his game. Ultimately Pogba is a victim of choosing the club based on sentimentality and his well rounded skills.

If he tries to play Pogba as a DLP it will be a disaster in the long term. He simply does not have the concentration or the movement of the ball to do that role effectively for 90 minutes. It will click for the odd games however.

This has to be one of the most talented groups of midfielders ever… loved watching these guys play together and all of them were so different from each other. Pogba and Vidal are like a perfect Ying and Yang in the midfield. Vidal is a warrior where as Pogba is more of an artist. Marchiso did everything well and pirlo was also an artist but was at the end of his career so he couldn’t bomb down the pitch like Pogba and Vidal could.

Fantastic insights. Thanks a lot! How Kante helps Pogba in France national team is amazing. They are complimentary. Having a robust CDM could unlock Pogba at anytime. Pogba is outstanding. If he improves the shooting from outside the box and use his ability in set pieces, he will be even more amazing! A wonderful comparison of Pogba to Iniesta being the support cast and not being the sole creator. He makes good teams look better/awesome :) End of the day, it's a team game and all the pieces are essential - a classic example is Barca team under Pep.

Yeah brilliantly done. I agree with everything. I personally think pogba key weakness is simply positioning. You know where I think he'd be best as mad as it sounds the Beckham role; let the opposition left sided players dictate his positioning. The crossing, switching, weaker foot and feet when fronted by a marker would maximise all his strengths. Little known fact in his first spell at utd, it could have been his debut against a lower league team. Fergie was so terrified of his naive positioning he screamed at him for much of the games remainder. Eventually loosing paitents and instructing him to stay inbetween the CB's. Fergie never trusted him positionally I still see why now. He is worse the further forward you play him too. This is accentuated when you watch him live. Think of the utilisation of ability with a football he gets out himself compared to Thomas Muller?! Rants 'I will be lucky to see a player as good as Pogba at Utd in my lifetime. Custis (the fat one) 'pogba has never had a good game for Utd' (said a year ago) Now that is splitting opinion. Personally for me i call him the 'Luxury General' I guess that kind of summises your video? He is learning at '6ish' though its good for him. Pogba will peak late when maturity erodes at his naviety.

Thanks bud appreciate your comments. For me a Rice like player but with more silkier skills would be perfect. Kimmich doesn’t have enough defensive coverage to cover for a Pogba unless there is a Goretzka as well. Pogba should always be used in a 3 man midfield not 2.

@@PythagorasinBoots thanks for the response mate! I think United have opened themselves up a new problem with the signing of Bruno. IMO both are too offensive minded in a 3 man midfield. Pogba as u said, loves to roam freely, especially on the left hand side, while Bruno loves to stay in the pockets right between the lines. Both of them tend to lose possession too often. There is no CDM on this planet that could defensively cover all of that. They will eventually have to sell one of the two, and i think it will be Pogba...

Great videos. Thank you Couple weaknesses missed on Pogba: - in possession he often plays slow to invite contact to try roll players. He's not that good at it and this play allows greater opportunity to lose the ball when a simpler pass and movement would work. In in deeper roles this exposes his defense, in advanced roles it mostly unnecessary & can create counter attack opportunity. - his midfield heading is poor. He often avoids challenging for the header, nullifying his height and creating a easier prospect for the opponents to get on the ball.

Great analysis. I loved the one you did for Rashford. Ole has been able to get the best out of Pogba. Pogba is more lethal near the opponents box, this season he's played him in the LW and he's effective there. Luke Shaw's overlapping has really helped. I always wished Pogba played nearer the box coz of his long range shooting ability and finally it happened, see his goals vs West Ham, Aston Villa, Burnley, Fulham etc. His backtracking to help at defending has improved

Edwin Dz Yes I’ve studied up to UEFA B and have coaching experience too. Our team has semi pro footballers as well. I might do a video on VDB, but thoughts are that he won’t break into the first XI unless there is a shift to a diamond or if injuries to Pogba or Bruno.

Agree with most however it seems as though he will have to suffer at least another year as Manchester seek to bring through another academy prospect in James Garner. All signs point to them not bringing in players in positions that they have prospects a year off making the team. As regards Left back I suspect that had Luke Shaw not gotten injured they would have signed a replacement while selling him on. The problem is that now they either have to hold on that or get out as many of the other defenders before they bring in a left back

Agree with all that. I do think United take far too long to shift deadwood. Ole did well last season and it is an ideal situation to build momentum and from a position of strength. I hope VDB is the first of many during frenzied final weeks.

Garner is great talent but has a significant floor he gets squared up and ran past in midfield he is a very poor tackler of a dribbling player. His game reading is so high you'll see him tackling because he gets to the ball so early before receiving player has it under control but once they do he is often squared up. I really worry about this for his game. Galbraith is the most complete young mid we have all things considered. I also want to see Helm develop defensively as he is very unenglish in his style. He can be a tougher version of Winks i think. If they decide to play him in midfield which surely they must.

Pogba needs to be in a 3 man midfield - Ndidi would be a good start but another body would also need to be in there - like a prime Modric. Having said that Pogba himself is physically in decline so not sure if that left sided role suits him as much now.

Pythagoras in Boots I don’t think Lamaprd Knows his best role. Used him at left wing and 10 which is so off for a player of his skillset. Lazio were in for him I think that would be a great move if Savic moves on. Under Sarri he played his best football of his career as an 8 in a support role in close proximity to hazard and Emerson holding the width. It’s kind of peak for him he’s never had a break with injuries and now he’s fallen behind missing a year with mount coming thru and now Havertz coming in.

I feel instead of 2 attacking fullbacks we can get 1 and use 1 inverted. If we eventually get this Sancho deal done or get another right winger it will make sense to play a kind of 3 2 5 system which will benefit all our players at united and in a way make us unpredictable. The 3 can be both CBs and Aaron allowing Aaron to focus on his strengths as well as improve his ball progression. The variation will come on the left. In Shaw we have a fullback that has great ball progression and ball carrying as well as one that can overlap when needed. If we invert Shaw alongside matic/fred that will free up pogba to play that mezzala role as he can roam all over the left side i.e. the half space and wingspace and in some matches he can allow shaw overlap while Rashford inverts and he drops deeper to dictate play. Sancho holding his width is a great proposition as any defender won't like to be isolated with him and the prospect of a Rashford Shaw martial pogba diamond on the left is interesting. We definitely have the players for this system. What do you think?

I don't think Sancho's strength is in staying out wide and holding width. His strength is in playmaking and being given the freedom to roam, he needs an attacking right back to get the best out of him. For Pogba to operate as a mezzala, you need an attacking left back. Shaw is not progressive enough with the ball or off it to make the runs needed to stretch the play and give Pogba space in the half space channel. Tactically United are incredibly dysfunctional.

I like Fred but he’s a utility player without being a specialist. Someone who will play more than enough games but needs to be first sub/cover option along with VDB. He’s not the Fabinho figure the team is crying out for and I have not seen any media speculation linking us to a top CDM. It makes me think we believe we have enough in the CDM area and trust Matic to make it work but that’s a grave error in my book as is our judgement of the full back areas.

@@PythagorasinBoots Fred is a holder. Trust me, his sideways covering of the pitch is his greatest assest that makes him a holder all day. I struggle to see how people dont see it. We agree on most obviously not this. Fred is a kante with riskier n quicker ball movement to me. You play him you ask him to patroll at CDM. You take the rough with the smooth with his distribution coz he moves the ball very quick he will loose it at times. Criminality underated destructive force is Fred. Last game he did play there and look how he did. I admit I like pro active CDMs though. Angle cutters like carrick as decent as he was get passed around at elite level. Id rather have joint attributes of stamina and positining making nusance it stops players get foot holds in the game. Man wins A LOT of the ball I find him a rare talent personally.

Fred is a tad more crazier in all respects which means he can be world class one week and poor the next.. which is not what you want at CDM long term.

I honestly don't think Kante's 'thorn in the side' of opposition factor is as high. I think at his peak he was elite for the plus factor of his added ball carrying. Positioning, good pace agility and pitch covering come together in Fred to create something rather unique. It really is like having two players. He was superb last season on par with Martial for me. The second half verse Liverpool was one of my favourite halfs of football from a utd player. 'Oh he's in there way again....this time that side of pitch'. I think when judging CDM's one has to careful looking at what they offer rather than what they dont. Its like batsman in cricket that scores ugly runs but averages 50.

PermanentMerka I agree that consistency of selection would bring down the erraticness but I play in the CDM role myself and in my experience, the best players in these position are the calm composed types and yes a crazy destructive factor can be super useful in certain games but if the balance is slightly veering toward unhinged then you can be vulnerable in certain games. For me at this moment in time Fred needs to prove he can bring that calm factor and bring that same level of composure as the elite CDMs. He’s very exciting and likeable so I hope he can do it because that for me is the one factor why he hasn’t been backed game in game out.

Yes because he’s a deeply misunderstood player and someone who is a bad fit for Manchester United. I predicted that Ole was not going to get the best out of him and that ultimately this relationship was doomed. He needs to move to a club which dominates and he can be icing on cake rather than a spine player.

He's not good enough imo. Very hard to fit him and maintain balance, and all that for someone who hasn't really produced consistently in his entire career.
