I never played online but I do use all gold set decently often after I got it. it can def get you ahead very quickly but the handling is holding the combo off. it's very easy to go off course lol. you should use it at least once tho when you get it, using it on 200 cc is pretty fun :)

For anyone wondering, you can get the same* stats with Metal Mario / Pink Gold Peach, Sneeker body, Metal tires, and Wario Wing / Plane Glider / Paraglider glider. *I think the Sneeker and Metal tires have slightly better Invincibility stats, even, which is weird. Anyway, I'm not seeing the issues with those stats... ...Yeah; I tried it out, and it's not that bad to use... I mean, using a metal character doesn't feel great, but the rest is fine. My usual kart+tire setup isn't that far off (C.Slim+P-Wing), with biggest difference being anti-grav speed. I may even consider using the Gold Standard body if I decide to unlock it.

When I first started playing Mario Kart 8 (Wii U) I didnt know about the gold kart or other stuff since I didn't have internet during that time. It took me approximately 1 month of playing + 2 extra weeks cus I needed to learn to play. Extra irrelevant story: After 2 years of playing, I was 99% done with base Mario Kart 8. I needed the Gold Tires but I did not know how to. Once I got the Gold Kart, Glider, and Wheels on MK8D, I hopped back on the base game and got the tires, 100% the base game without DLC.

Gold kart gold tires and dry bowser was my go to in mk8 vanilla online and once you got 2 defensive items it would take a target shock or blueshell to catch up. Played till about 70k mmr

Fun fact: Your acceleration stat is pretty much identical to your miniturbo stat so it also takes longer to charge up your boosts when you drift. You could use it for bagging but even then there's better builds for that.

Handling and traction don't matter that much. The stats that do matter is the hidden stat mini-turbo (determines how fast you charge a mini-turbo, how long it lasts and how much speed it gives.) Gold mario only has 1 mini-turbo, gold kart has 4, gold tires have 2, and gold glider has 1. Together they have 10 mini-turbo, which is really bad.
