Great video Marc, could actually be the best $600 a cricketer could spend if they want a decent stick, if that was a Kooka or GN add a few hundred at least to the price.

decently made bats and ever improving.

Lovely vid. Would the heartwood side need any extra knocking in compared to the white sap wood side? (On a ‘2 tone’ bat) Cheers.
@justalitttleun2 жыл бұрын
The heartwood is denser/harder than whitewood so doesn't need knocking any More than whitewood.
@CricketBatInfo2 жыл бұрын
Hi Alex, as I have covered in past videos and possibly the long bat preparation video, the Heartwood is both denser and as the sap has dried in that area, this created a darker appearance, like on the bark and makes it harder, but lacking in any elasticity, so more brittle. Generally, i am initially more cautious as it want to harden the top layer, not crack it. if properly looked after and any cracks glued it should last ages. it's just the local cricket hoons that play with a cracked bat for a few weeks and then complain it's broken. generally, I would pay less for a mostly heartwood (3/4+) with 14+ grains as it will sprint to it's end of life.

Hi, What is your suggestion of knocking a softpressed bat? How to identify the bat is soft pressed or hard pressed?
@CricketBatInfo Жыл бұрын
That’s easy, if you hit it moderately hard with a mallet and create a compression crack it’s likely a softer press. Especially if its a lower grade. Maybe its easier to tell a hard pressed bat. If you have a good relationship the seller they may help you find the goldilocks press😜

How to know whether is wood is genuine english willow or not
@CricketBatInfo Жыл бұрын
go to my playlist and look in the playlists. one on non english willow. difficult to the untrained eye. kasmie is two tone and serbian can redish. manfacturers can bleach the willow too

Maverick, Pulse or Signum? I am guessing you prefer fully handmade based on past comments, but i may be off the mark. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

I like the offset edge of the Signum, and yeah, much prefer to support Aussie handmades.
