honestly, plasma is the best every day rifle avilable. This gun does basically as much physical damage as combat rifle and as much energy dmg as laser rifle. If problem solver didnt exist then experiment 18a would be my weapon of choice

I’m less impressed by 18a as I am Sentinel’s Plasmacaster, but a two shot would likely be better than either.

@@Justanotherconsumer rapid is very good on weapons that have upgrades sacrifing rof for something else, because the speed incrase is based on base number. That's why final judgement is very cool thanks to chargin barrels, but plasma sniper is like that too to a lesser degree. Instigating? Over rated, instigating is a Simple x2 damage mult after everything else was taken into account - including armor and other form of resistances. two shot, mighty or whatever is a real damage booster

@@tomaszpawlik5091depends on the build. If you’re doing a run and gun instigating is dubious. If you’re doing a lot of sneak attacks and every hit is a kill, instigating is amazing.

@@JustanotherconsumerHaving used a Two Shot Plasma, it drops off later on in the game waaaay too hard to be a viable choice over guns like Problem Solver and even Overseer’s Guardian.

The best part of plasma weapons is they do solid ballistic AND energy damage. Sets it up to be a good all-rounder kind of gun that you'd have a hard time finding situations it's not at least a good option for.

I rember finding two shot plasma gun and was so happy get it. It carried me throughout my survival run! Unfortunately, the guns fell off compared to creation club guns and dlc weapons. Still very efficient weapon.

Thing I love most about this (and the laser as well) is that their weight is based on the assumption that they’re pistols so they pack a huge punch without lugging around a school bus.

The Plasma, like Particle weapons in Starfield, has horrifyingly high damage compared to the other weapon classes in the game, and is balanced by the slow projectile and rare/expensive ammo.

Hate. I hate plasma weapons in Fallout 4. Damn AI ever ever step right or left and avoid all damage. But I found it the stronger as "shotgun" with the splitter. The flamer mod might work as well, not sure.

Honestly no idea why they didn't bring the plasma caster back to be the heavy variant to the plasma gun as the laser minigun is to the rifle.

I carry an Instigating plasma sniper as a backup to my gauss rifle and use it as an indoor/close quarters sniper, mainly popping off shots in VATS to negate the projectile speed adjustments one would usually need to make.

The spilter sucks. It uses more ammo per shot. But does less damage per shot than the sniper barrel, even if every projectile hits. Plus worse range and accuracy.

Energy weapons are Fallout 4's saving grace. They actually dont look bad like the ballistic weapons and are really fun to use.

I had a run, and my character, even though he was a tank at max level T-60 armor was getting swarmed by ghouls. Not dieing or anything. Not even getting hurt. I also had tesla armor, plus tesla coils so it was anything more than a severe inconvienance, but it was still present, so it needed to be handled. I became convinced that I needed some type of weapon that could give me some breathing room, and that the quickest route was Far Harbor and picking up Sergeant Ash. What happened was one of the luckiest random drops I had in this game. Ended up with a Staggering plasma pistol with the thrower mod thingy that basically turned it into a Plasma flame thrower pistol, but with the legendary prefix, it would stop legendary glowing ones in their tracks and melt them in, not a lie, a half second. Don't sleep on plasma weapons. This gem wasn't even stratching the possibilites.

This on a shot shot plasma rifle will carry you trough most of the game, it can be very op

I recently got one that had the neverending legendary effect and modified it to be automatic. Its amongst the best legendary drops i have ever got (at least compared to the others I have got) and I renamed it to The Endless Eight because it was like the first thing I thought of when I got it 😅

Other than the Ammo issues automatic plasma guns shred enemies, the only issue being the small magazine. I do love the way the little pistons at the top go up and down as you fire it's a nice touch.

Gunslinger increases the range for pistol weapons. So, my best "sniper rifle" is a laser pistol with the snipe barrel. The range on that thing is insane.

I've got a two-shot plasma rifle that I use in full-auto. Absolutely absurd DPS and probably one of the best weapons I'll ever find.

I rarely use the plasma gun in any of the 3D fallout games as I hate the floaty projectiles. I have rushed the one in the robot infested building (Repconn) in NV and used it for a bit.

These are great to give to settlers as well since they have unlimited ammo, and due to them usualy hip firing they will accidentaly lead there shots to offset slow projectile speed

I really enjoy using the plasma platform. Just build it to fit your build and it's a guaranteed good time. One more con you maybe shoulda mentioned: the large projectiles make precision shots against partially covered enemies a bit dicey. It doesn't always play well with the already dodgy collision on holey walls, junky fences, etc.

It's hard to keep any plasma weapon fed, in my experience. I'd just got for a Combat/Homemade Rifle. If I really want energy weapons, lasers at least are hitscan, so you don't have to worry about leading as much. The fact that it cannot be silenced is another issue once you start getting into DLC content like Nuka World, and the Operative bonus.

You missed the biggest pro of this weapon. How light weight it is. This is the highest damaging lightweight gun by far of any of the available weapons. It deals almost twice as much damage per shot as a hunting rifle does in its sniper configuration while being almost 1/3rd of the weight. This almost completely negates the disadvantage of its rare/expensive ammo since you can easily keep even a rifled version of the gun in reserve even on Survivor difficulty only using it for especially important targets.

I love the plasma guns and usually go sniper route with them. I don't ever remember getting 300 distance with them though. the longest I remember is about 267 (which is still really good enough).

I like the improved short barrel on a rifle stock. It's a good all-round gun.

If I'm using energy weapons I prefer plasma to laser, but I still find guns to be more flexible and easier to find amo.

Laser is more of an early game tool. Old Faithful is in many ways a better weapon than the Overseer’s guardian as an early purchase. Sure, it’s not suppressed, but shoot and scoot sniping works just fine when one-shotting things. The main virtue of an energy weapons focus is that Science! also helps with crafting settlement stuff and Gun Nut provides a lot less.

An enemy dropped a rapid plasma pistol before I reached the Institute so no need to buy the weapon. I also have a penetrative plasma rifle. 30 percent damage legendary effect.
