Hey folks! In today’s video we’re doing another seeded Balatro run. Here, a double Oops! All Sixes at the start turned Lucky Cards into an extremely powerful econ engine that allowed me to aggressively roll for multiple Invisible Jokers over the course of the run and get enough deck fixing for an easy Flush Five build. for anyone wondering about the math for copying idol over retrigggers, assuming the base=1: 3 hacks + 2 copies + 1 initial trigger = 6 triggers total. idol gives x2 and poly gives x1.5, meaning the equation would be 2^6 x 1.5^6 = 729. That setup will give x729 total. now, with 3 hacks + 1 initial trigger = 4 triggers total. idol gives x2, brainstorm gives x2, and blueprint gives x2, and poly gives x1.5, meaning the equation would be 2^4 x 2^4 x 2^4 (or 2^12) x 1.5^4 = 20,736 As you can see, balancing the retriggers with idol copies gives about 30 times the value.

@@mfpole this was done without glass in mind, but the retriggers with glass would be: 6 triggers, with idol giving x2, glass x2, and poly x1.5, so the equation would be 2^6 x 2^6 (or 2^12) x 1.5^6 = 46,656 now with copying idol still, 4 triggers, with idol x2, brainstorm x2, blueprint x2, glass x2, and poly x1.5, making the equation 2^4 x 2^4 x 2^4 x 2^4 (or 2^16) x 1.5^4 = 331,776 so yes, idol copying would be better even with glass

I know there's good reason why a few extra 1.5× mult triggers from Hanging Chad is better than the ×100ish mult from lucky card but I just don't understand it. Like I do but I dont

Hanging Chad is mainly more retriggers on idol, which says x2 mult but because it keeps triggering its x2 mult every time. So one hanging Chad is 2 more x2s on the idol which is really x4. It’s not better if you’re copying hack but when copying idol with blueprint and brainstorm it’s x2 x2 x2 x2 x2 x2 which is 2^6 so only x64. Still worse than a lucky cat with just idol retriggers unless my math is terrible but the 2 extra retriggers on the polychrome get you another x2.25 on that x64 so you get to x144 which should be better than lucky cat, although only if it’s polychromed itself bc lucky cat gets that as a boost too. Someone correct me if I have terrible math but I’m pretty sure the hanging Chad is definitely good but technically only better than lucky cat if it’s polychromed too which is kinda just a 1/3 chance that you can’t do much about

Oh wait actually I forgot you’d be using the hanging Chad on a glass card so that’s an extra x4 mult right there and yeah x576 is definitely gonna be way better than anything lucky cat can provide. Again maybe I’m missing something else but hanging Chad gives 6 extra retriggers on idol 2 on polychrome and 2 on glass which when all multiplied together should be more than anything lucky cat could ever get up to

So, the many thing is the fact that there are so many retriggers. Let's say you have the ability to retrigger a card 4 extra times. That means for each card played, they trigger a total of 5 times. When doing a Flush Five, he is triggering his 2's a total of 25 times. But, for simplicity sake, let's strictly compare triggering the 2's an extra time vs a solid x100: During a Flush Five, that means an extra 5 triggers happen. That equates to (1.5^5) or 7.59375. Not much, but the 1.5x multiplier is also paired with the Idol resulting in an extra 2x per card trigger. That means it is (1.5^5 * 2^5) or 243. Which means the cat will only ever be better once it exceeds 243--which is unlikely considering how slow the item scales.

I was doing some balatro math and realized that death card is better for deck fixing than hanged man. If u death a card there's a slightly higher chance to get it in comparison to hanged man

Death is best when you want to get a specific card more often. Hanged man is good if you're going for a larger set of cards, like a suit or rank. Both working together is the best of both worlds. Cut the chaff, hone the power.

Am i missing aomething? I'm trying to count the poly, glass, and idol hits from the hack triggers, and i keep getting that splitting the blueprint brainstorm is best. (It's clear that if we try only to maximize idol triggers, both on idol ia best). Mult triggers (MT)= triggers*mult hits If we just look at the 2x triggers (glass+number of idols) For Blueprint&Brainstorm hitting hack MT = 5 * 2(1+1*1) = 20 (the 2 ia for red seal but it only increases the number, not the relative values as it applies equally to all cases) For them splitting MT = 4 * 2(1+2*1) =24 For both hitting idol MT = 3 * 2(1+3*1) = 24 So for full glass, splitting and both on idol is equivalent (again, if no glass, both hitting idol is best). But this ignores that all cards are polychrome. In that case, you want to maximize card triggers, so splitting should be best. I'm not missing anything here, am I?

Idol only picks cards that are currently in your deck. So if you cut your deck down to only containing 2s, Idol will only pick 2 to trigger on. If you cut even further, and make all your 2s the same suit, then Idol will pick that exact suit and rank every time.

One of my favorite streamers Aris (Avoidingthepuddle) calls these types of chatters "front pagers". Basically there's no actual way to ever make them go away or change their behaviour. So constantly bashing and antagonizing them only serves to reduce the regular viewer's enjoyment of the stream. I get this shit wears you down as a streamer but at a certain point you got to recognize that you're fighting a losing battle and opt to just completely ignore front pagers and accept them as a fact of life. its kind of funny how terrible the lucky cat is here compared to the other jokers. with the idol hitting 3 times it does 2³ per card, the three hacks multiply that by 2³, meaning those 6 jokers give x64⁵ mult, which is x1,073,741,824. ofc the cat is essential for the fun factor of the run and therefore cant be sold

For people who still don't understand why copying Idol is better than hack, just do the math. Each copy of hack is one more x2 on idol. So you have 3 hacks and 2 copy effects plus the red seal. Meaning copying hack gets you x2^6. While if you copy Idol you have 3 triggers of idol per retrigger. So that's 3 hack + red seal meaning it's x2^(4*3) which is x2^12. Demonstrably better by several orders of magnitude. That's x64 vs x4096 per card. (this is completely discounting polychrome on the cards btw, but while you do lose out on some x1.5 triggers, that ultimately doesn't matter in comparison to how fast x2 exponents grow; x1.5^6 is ~x11 while x1.5^4 is ~x5, again per card, so the loss here is completely dwarfed by what you get by copying idol)
