Allen Iverson was one of the most iconic, game-changing superstars the NBA has ever seen. But over the years, a lot of people have developed mixed opinions about Iverson's career. How good was he in his prime? Was he overrated as a player? Hope you enjoy!

Say what you want about Iverson, the man was a straight up athlete. The combination of speed, acrobatics, durability, and pure scoring ability made him one of the most fun players to watch. Not to mention one of the greatest to ever play the game. Respect to Iverson.

Another stupid argument anti-iverson people made are that his fg% is low. But neglecting the fact that he goes to the line often. Also everyone is guarding him very tightly because of his skill and he took many shots because of his scoring ability, his fg% has to suffer abit. You just can't compare his fg% to someone who has a high fg% but only take 1 or 2 sure shots a game. If you force the guy who can only make 1 or 2 shots a game to take 40 shots they would fail even more miserably.
@Abstrack23
@Abstrack23 5 жыл бұрын
It is low but it is disregarding the fact on how short he is- 5'11. Defensively they were the best team in the NBA, but offensively they didn't have anybody aside from an inconsistent Mckie. Also as a poster said above - LB told AI to shoot 30-40 shots a game just so his team could get by.

Even if his fg% is low, he goes to the line often, I think he lead the league or is one of the leaders in going to the line. Someone who is 0/10 out of field goals made has 0% fg but if he is fouled every single time and made all his freethrows(20/20) he would still score 20 points and its the same as someone who score 10/10 100fg%. Also when you make your opponent foul you, its a advantage you gain throughout the game. People would be more cautious when defending to avoid fouling out or getting 5 team fouls.

WTF is a tall 5'11?
@mskcrc
@mskcrc 5 жыл бұрын
In 2001-02, he shot .489 TS%, which was worse than the league's worst shooting team, the Nuggets. If by "wasn't insanely efficient" you mean "was one of the least efficient scorers in the entire league," then sure, I agree with you. You get about 100 possessions per game to shoot the ball. Having a guy who misses 17 shots of those 100 possessions... it ain't good for your offense. And that's why they were ranked 23rd in offensive rating.

i think you should emphasize a bit more about how AI changed the defense in the nba, probably him and Shaq, were the two players that made the entire nba, change their defense in such a small period of time, in such drastic manner, just cause the way they attacked and scored, couldn't be stopped with the regular defending style that existedbefore their greatness showing up in the nba world.

They would have 1 eye on him the whole time and be standing 6 feet from basket ready to contest. He'd start his drive from 3pt line and still get right to rim before help D got there ...from 6 feet away! Blew my mind how fast he was.

Be it when he crossed up MJ, or stepped over Ty Lue. I remember his awesome bounce pass between Grant Hill's legs, in the later stages of his career, when he was in Detroit. Everytime you see your favourite player with an arm sleeve - know that the Answer did it first, and not for style, but I think he had some trouble with his elbow. In short - iconic player.

AI was one of my favorite players to watch, he brought a lot of heart to the game. I agree he was inefficient, I didn't think people thought the same thing I was thinking, he can score 40-60 points in a game a still lose. He also dribbled a lot and have to release the ball before the shot clock in so many times. So I call that inefficient, about 2 shots in 58 seconds per possessions. However there is no stats for that. If I was going to pick a team with the best players in their prime, I would only pick him if it was for pure entertainment. He doesn't know how to use his teammates, get them involve, even when playing the allstars or olympians.

The word inefficient is a cliche.. When u r a iso shot creator.. If these guys played like role players and only took efficient shots their percentage would be sky high.. But the term shot creator means just that.. creating a shot that has a chance when there is no shot really there..

HPM Boss AI is smaller than Jordan so it’s harder for AI to create his own shots.. That’s why he constantly drive and gets banged up and shoot FT because shooting pull ups or post fadeaway jumpers over taller defenders is harder.. Don’t compare Jordan to AI because they’ve different playstyles.. AI has to thrive 3x harder than any other SG to be efficient mainly because of his size.

Meh, I don't think Westbrook is a good player. I think he's kinda like carmelo anthony, a good individual baller, but not someone who you build a championship team with. The only reason he got as far as he did with the Thunder is because they were packed with talent until everyone left and it was pretty much impossible for them not to go as far as they did.

I saw Allen Iverson play in the last two basketball games of his high school career, in the 11th grade, because he later had to go to prison. As a high school player he was unreal, because he had the arms and legs of a 6-5 player on the torso of a 5-5 player. This was before he had any tattoos or facial hair. They won the state title with the help of Tony Rutland, a senior who played later for Wake Forest.

Growing up on the east coast I loved watching allen iverson. I only ever watchded the early east coast games because my parents made me go to bed before the later west coast game came on so I never really watched Kobe & Shaq and the lakers play, Iverson was my fav player tho. He truly was amazing. Incredible handles, good 3-point ball, could pull up from any where and drive to the basket. That 2001 team could have won the finals if Iverson had some help other than a 300 year old Dikembe Mutombo.
