Kidd often made the game look easy. He was tough and his game was so smooth. One of my favourite players to watch growing up. I still can´t believe, that he managed to develop an above average jumpshot over his carreer.
@musicantd4 ай бұрын
I figured he would develop his shooting eventually. The thing with Kidd is that it was his last priority. He was the antithesis of the player who prioritizes shooting even before he graduated high school. He didn't care, he never wanted people to oo and ah about his shooting. Assists, steals, defense, winning took priority. The shooting stats came eventually. This video made the point that when he retired from playing he was 3rd all time in 3 pointers made. Yeah, he developed that eventually, huh?

Honestly Kidd would be better today, and you saw some of that in his later career. Kidd wasn't a bad 3pt shooter, he was a bad midrange shooter, and back in the 2000s you simply were not allowed to shoot many 3s unless you were elite. Some players are great shooters that are range capped hard, like DeRozan, but Kidd was the opposite, he pretty much shot the exact same from 3 as he did from long 2s. Dallas understood this in 2011 and told him that if he was going to shoot, shoot behind the arc, and that helped his efficiency A TON, but sadly that was near the end of the career and way past his prime. Mark my words, if Kidd played today, he wouldn't have those awful shots tanking his value and he'd be getting a ton more recognition. I'm not saying he'd be even close to someone like Curry, but 38% 3pt shooting with size, athleticism, defense and playmaking? Unreal.

The worst part was I went up for a 3 he came from lord knows where blocked my shot so bad the ball slammed into a wall about 30 feet. The sound was so loud I swear the packed gym when silent. It sucked lol. I can say this as a senior in high school he would have probably still been an all star in the nba.
