One of his greatest college moments. LSU at Georgia; LSU up in the final minute. Pete dribbles out the final minute, being chased by UGA defenders. He moves to mid court and launches a half court hook shot at the buzzer. It goes in and the crowd goes nuts. The Georgia crowd gave him a standing ovation as he ran off the court.

Maravich is the source of showtime basketball. He literally could score on any one at anytime. Dr J described their after practice one one games As”Pete would take me out to 35ft and if I bit on the jump shot he would drive around me for the dunk “ if I bit on the drive he would shoot it over my head “. Mark 35ft from the rim…. Irving when asked always used to say the Maravich was the most skilled player he had seen.

@@dwmzmm he played the full Four Seasons. But back then, you had to play freshman ball. You only joined the varsity when you became a sophomore. So Pete, Kareem, David Thompson and others, only have their varsity seasons in the books.

If he were playing today, he would be about 25-40 pounds heavier too due to the new sports nutritionists who would have bulked him up. Imagine dealing with Pete if he weighed more. He still held his own back in his day but today he would have been a monster. With stronger leg muscles he wouldn't have been as prone to knee injuries. I am an old man who watched him play and he was the most entertaining player ever. Serious handles too. Thanks for this video. I'm subscribing right now.

Just gotta say.. Pistol Pete could play in any Era. He'd just change his game. Seriously, check out what his shot percentage was beyond the 3 pt. arc. In part-time play on the Celtics he hit 75%. Yes, different Era, but anybody who knows...that's 'f'ing insane.

I remember I was at a college basketball game and they stopped the game to announce to the crowd that Pistol Pete had passed away. The NCAA's scoring leader had died at age 40, but he died doing what he loved. How many of us will be able to say that? I think medical science today would have resolved the cardiac issues that led to his death and the knee injuries that shortened his career. I grew up watching the Pistol play basketball and his death rocked my world, even though he had been long retired from the game.

You guys have to do some research. I see you are doing it now. , The Pistol is the greatest basketball player in history! All time college scoring leader in only 3 seasons, no shot clock & no 3 point line. 44 points a game! A record that will never be even close to be broken it’s like hitting 100 hrs in a season He was just years before his time, Bird said he was magical & Magic said i stole his moves and they have no problem telling people! Watch some documentaries & you simply will be amazed! You guys have a Utube channel & you don’t know the New Orleans Jazz. You don’t disrespect the goat. He played 5 on 1 games because was surrounded by average players unlike Bird & Magic who played with teams with all Hall of Fame players, the Pistol played a half season with one Doc. J who will simply say he was the greatest shooter passer & ball handler of all time. Bird says he was the best. I can go on for an hour but you guys get some education and I might get back with you! A movie, dozens of documentaries even songs. First athlete not just basketball to get a million $ contract that actually was 2 million while others were getting 50-60k a game & they became resented. Only The Stilt & Russell were paid but not close to a million till years after Pistol. Educate! He played with Bird his last two years. , do not you know why Bird did amazing moves, they weren’t original he stole them from the Pistol. Watch his shot-it’s beautiful it’s almost comparable to Birds. There back piston are identical. No disrespect✌️ he only has one artery congenital heart disease. People with this condition don’t live to be twenty. He played college and pro basketball with a deadly heart disease! Watch his TV basketball home work shows. He would dribble the ball in the back seat while his father drove him around town !

Pete left did he not? Huge difference between a player and a winner. Pete didnt know how to play celtics basketball. It would never work. Its flashy play but he wasnt winning hack shit.
@439tab Жыл бұрын
This is bullshit. What is your source for Larry told him that? Pete left because his knees had given out on him and he could barely hobble up and down the court.
