The post credits scene is a literal paradox. During the professors experiment they end up at the Crystal pool and you trade books, which gives them inspiration to explore area 0, despite the briar’s book being inspired by them. SHE and her grandfather were directly responsible for all of this. People were drummed out of the Paldea Academy for less. This is why she needed to face consequences, and so did her grandfather. At least a reprimand. And the fact that they didn't, when the former staff of the academy faced very severe consequences for turning a blind eye to the bullying in Paldea is what makes this go against the theme of Scarlet and Violet (or at the very least, made it seem like whoever wrote this didn't play the main game or failed to grasp the point of the story). I personally enjoyed Indigo Disk a lot. Throughout my time playing the DLC, I sunk 15 hours into the Indigo Disk DLC alone. From the plot with Kieran to the most challenging elite 4 the franchise has ever seen, Indigo Disk definitely boosted my perception of Scarlet and Violet as a game. Also the fact that all the battles are all double battles just made me feel like this was "VGC: The DLC" if you get what I mean. The only real disappointment I had with Indigo Disk was how they handled the legendaries. Not only are there fewer legendaries to find in Indigo Disk than there were in Dynamax Adventures (25 in Indigo Disk vs. 47 in Crown Tundra), not only are half of them version-exclusive, but you can't even shiny hunt them which is definitely going to reduce how many hours players can and will spend on this otherwise excellent DLC.

I agree that the Indigo Disk was the better dlc compared to Crown Tundra in the plot department at the very least. But the fact that ALL the legendary Pokémon are shiny locked is dumb. The very idea of shiny locking is so asinine but that is a completely different conversation lol. And I also agree that the whole Terapogos plot line was tacked on haphazardly, like they basically said “oh by the way, we have to go to area zero” after Area Zero not being brought up a single time in neither the indigo disk nor the Teal mask? Don’t get me wrong, I love Terapogos and the lore and implications behind it is certainly interesting, but I just wished it was handled better lol. Also my favorite characters from the dlc are definitely Kieran, Drayton and Carmine, Drayton especially. Drayton had me laughing almost every time I saw him and he’s just a really fun character all around. I think it’d be cool to maybe see him take over the Opelucid City gym for Drayden in Black 3 and White 3 should we get them lol Edit: minor spelling errors 😭💀🫠

They’re not an alternate timeline professor, they would appear to be the same professor, they seemed to have been ripped right out of the past, the only thing I can think of that would break things timeline wise is the fact that the professor gives you their respective book, which doesn’t make sense as that book is the key to the machine, so without it the machine won’t function in the first place, this could only be resolved in story if the book gets sent back to the past in the epilogue. If people already know about the story of the epilogue please no spoilers.

Gonna talk about the spoiler part around the 8th min mark but: Sada/Turo were transported from a point in time before they built the AI, the time machine and obtained Koraidon/Miraidon as well as the second one that killed them. You can tell because they call the ride dragons by their paradox names (Winged King and Iron Serpent). Also they humorously say that building an AI powered robot is a good idea if you ask if they’re an AI at the start of that scene. And finally, if you go down to the underdepths, there’s a book from the professor that says they were transported to a lake full of sulphur and met with a child that gave them a book, which of course happens in that scene. That’s probably what happened to Heath too somehow but I wish we got more lore on that guy

The time machine used terastal energy and somehow, Terapagos interacting to the crystal pool briefly brought them from the past to the present. Not the clearest thing, admittedly, but also not that hard to figure out. As for me, I'm always glad when the games give you the option to catch past starters. Also, I’m not a fan of Terapagos’ ability being time/dimensional travel, because it’s just not that interesting of idea. Well it’s no Crown Tundra, I can tell you that. I suspect, DLC will not live up to the Crown Tundra, going forward.

The paradox Pokémon exist because of a time paradox that’s what the kitakami scene was trying to say. If you read the notes in the underdepths sada/turo mention receiving a white book from a child. Meaning you gave sada and turo the means they needed to complete their plans.

8:05 the professor is literally from the past. We see that in their journal at Area Zero Underdepths. WE as the player have created a time paradox by bringing Terapagos to the Crystal Pool and pull the professor from not only their point in time but their point in space, which by the way, it was in Kitakami because Terapagos crystals are all connected, so you can travel anywhere in time or space as long as there are Crystals there. WE are the reason the events of the game's story even happened. We literally pulled off a Futurama's Phillip Fry. Remember, they don't have to give you the full explanation, you are supposed to figure it out yourself.

I still don't think the professor at the lake is from the same timeline. Our professor created the time machine before Arven was born. The professor at the lake has a son, but still has yet to create the time machine.

but the Kitakami Crystal Pool does explain almost everything about what happened (though you do also need to check the Professor's desk at the Area Zero depths) Terapagos did pull the Professor from the past, as you give them the white book they describe in their depths journal, it is a bootstrap paradox and in the dialogue on what they are studying now, they talk about trying to catch Pokémon from alternate timelines, not the past or the future

8:24 Game Freak joins Hoyoverse on the list of companies that understand the least how a multiverse works lol. Though I guess it is at least not super plot relevant in Pokemon most of the time, unlike the Honkai games where its thrown in your face anytime Bronya and Seele are on the screen together since they always do literally the same thing with them no matter the game.

Lacey was a fun tough battle instead. Even with all of my Pokemon fully EV mochi-ate and IV bottle-cap hyper trained, she still pushed me to the brink. On my second play through, she brought my hero dolphin Palafin to the red with her papa ace before Palafin shot back with a STAB Wave Crash, taking down Excadrill and going down to recoil damage. It came down to Alcremie vs Alcremie and thankfully, I kept Encore in so I forced her to use her buff Decorate on my Alcremie and one-shot it. Intense match.

my biggest issue with the dlc (same as with the teal mask) is how they handled area zero. cool story (i loved it), nice new areas, unova references and so on. but this is literally called THE HIDDEN TREASURE OF AREA ZERO. And as of that its just Terapagos, Stellar and 4 Paradoxes (2 each game, if you want the other 2 play the other version). I expected much more of the Zero Cavern. Maybe more of a laberynth, maybe more new paradoxes, more Sada/Turo/Heath's notes to give us more lore. Or simply just let Valiant/Moon and the Paradox Beasts/Swords of Justice spawn there (they literally are Perin's Quests, like why. what does Perin have to do with the Paradox lore, why does she have photos of Area Zero, WHY ARE THEY NOT CONNECTED TO THE MAIN STORY). It really feels empty and with nothing to do and its like THE MOST IMPORTANT PLACE IN ALL OF PALDEA. Again, I really really enjoyed it: Karmine and especially Kieran's arc and all of the Unova references. But aside from that, I am somewhat disappointed, which is funny bc if it wasn't called "The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero" I'd rate it much higher.

You echoed my opinions really well!!! It baffled me, Area Zero was the highlight of SV and it felt incredibly lackluster in the DLC Crown Tundra was much better overall despite me liking the academy storyline/battles a lot (def the highlight). That area alone was cooler than the Terrarium/all of paldea except Area Zero

shiny locking the legendries is unnecessary at this point. Those pokemon are old enough that it should be possible to get their shinies.
@PixelPikmin Жыл бұрын
This dlc was abysmal. Shiny locked legendaries, not even letting you catch Walking Wake and Iron leaves, super dissapointing area zero story, and keeping Pecharunt locked until some event in January when it shouldn’ve been in the $35 dlc to begin with. The two things that save this dlc are having all starter Pokemon in one game (it’s been 6 years since that was possible) and the synchro machine, which could be a cool concept if fleshed out in Gen 10. Let’s hope the obligatory 2024 game is actually good.

I mean, turo/sada ai confirm that the paradoxes are from either the distant past or future, and the professor at the pool is from our past since the research books in the Terapagos cave confirms the professor being given a white book by a child in a sulfur smelling place. And let’s be real, it felt more of a challenge to locate the legendaries with hints and seeing them static rather than seeing em like in usum or in a hoopa portal

I'm not gonna worry about shiny locked Legendaries since I can easily obtain the legendaries from my hundreds of hours played on Ruby and Sapphire up to Sword and Shield. I more than often get a kick out of the ordinary Pokemon being shiny since I rarely see those and they're an interesting phenomenon already.

They infer that the professors are the past ones before they died and it’s a cool time loop thing but they actually tell you where the paradox Pokémon are from they are from different timelines entirely or different universes they aren’t from the past/future

No it didn’t 😭. There still bugs from a one year game, a lot of the mechanics in the dlc should’ve been in the base game, and they still didn’t explain some lore in the games.

@@Boltofbrilliance122 -Gym leader rematches should been included in the main game seeing how all other games have them -Elite four and Champion rematches should’ve been in the games and not like how you call them to the room I should get to challenge the league again like every other game the fact I have to pay 30 extra dollars for something Pokémon games have had for years is crazy -In the real mask they give you a charm that increases the amount of Tera shards you get which should be in the base game seeing how hard it is to get them without the dlc - Tera shards should’ve been found on the ground like it was in the teal mask especially in area zero which is were they are literally from - An alternative way to get TMs besides just crafting in sword in shield you could collect the points and you could buy TMs the fact that a previous game does this and this game makes you pay 30 dollars to do this is just going backwards -The flying mechanic this should’ve definitely been included seeing how annoying it is glide only a few feet you need to fly more in the base games than in dlc Everything listed literally just makes the game more helpful or has been in previous base games.

7:55 Spoiler alert It actually does give some explanation It establishes that the "Paradox" that the paradox Pokemon are is a bootstrap paradox 9:30 I don't think it was completely intentional but due to how the game's are coded to work, in the same way you're initial starter is shiny locked so are all story event encounters so I think the act of putting a Pokemon in the world itself or for use in cutscenes effectively shiny locks it which is why they don't do that for the returning legendary hunts in the previous games with the Hoopa portals, Ultra ride and Dynamax adventures. And too many people complained about them NOT putting the legendaries in the overworld so they did this time, but the people demanding it didn't understand the consequences

One thing that I would love(although it won’t happen) is a game in the 2D pixel style of the past. This would maybe allow for a much larger and longer game, as you wouldn’t have to worry about all the outside animations and 3D modeling. I would love a game on the switch that’s like 10+ hours of great story and challenge. Imagine combining Platinum, Heart Gold and Black/White into one game
