There was a game I remember watching, I think it was Chelsea vs Werder Bremen. I believe Chelsea won 3-0 or 4-0. Essien didn't score in that game, but I've not seen a central midfielder dominate a game like that. It was insane. It was from the 05/06 season I believe.
