It was amazing he was able to redeem himself from that infamous Malice at the Palace and got a ring from the 2010 Lakers. Yeah I know about this whole James Harden elbow thing but don't get me wrong Artest/World Peace was still one of the best perimeter defender of his era. You forgot to mention about his game winner against the Suns and his Game 7 performance against Boston.

Along with what you said a lot of great defenders at them wings .. but he was top 5 in steals , top 10 in rebounds and top 10 in blocks at 6’7 guarding them power forwards out west also guarding the best player and even the point guards .. cause Nash was getting his ass torched out there .

Artest was a very polarizing player. His legacy always comes down to the malice at the palace which is a piece of that but he was a solid player. A guy who averaged 16-18 PPG for his teams but he didn’t thrive on scoring. He was known for his tough defense and being one of the toughest defenders in the league. He became a crucial piece to LA and their run for back to back championships.

Ron Artest was such an important piece on his teams that not only would the Lakers would have lost those championships without him, but that 2004 Pacers team had a LEGIT chance to win a ring and ended up imploding BECAUSE he was suspended. Very underrated player in history. No he won't be on the top 150 list, but a few championships would be gone without him

The massive brawl caused by Ben Wallace and Ron Artest in the 2004-2005 season was truly terrifying. 2005 was Reggie Miller's retirement year and it's a shame it ended like this That incident is really traumatic for Pacers fans.

Ron Ron is one of my favorite players. He played hard and both offensively and defensively. He famously said at his Sacramento introduction to the media , he'd guarantee the Kings would be in the playoffs. They did with him leading them to the playoffs. Larry Bird coached him too and if Bird respected you as a player, that is always a good thing.

He was my favorite Pacers player growing up in the 2000S as a pacers fan he’s one of the greatest wing defenders of all time he can play the power or the small forward and if he played in today’s game, he could probably put in a small ball center because of how strong and athletic he was and he just brought physicality to the game I mean he helped in my opinion he was the third best player on the Lakers championship kobe and Pau don’t give me wrong. I loved O’Neal and and Reggie Miller but Ron Artest is the type of player I wanna be a physical beast of a defender

Coming off a DPOY in 03-04 season. He was about to have a breakout season offensively n the 05-06 season. Too bad he couldn't control his temper. It was probably the best version of the Pacers ever in terms of having a chance to contend for a championship with great mixes of talents, veteranship, leadership and strong inside out games. It's a what if scenario again. Still hurts so much to this day as a lifelong Pacers fan.

So happy to see a profile on one of my favorites. Remember first hearing his name and reputation, then seeing him play on TV. Always was a fan. When he thanked his psychiatrist after Game 7 (can we talk about that clutch 3?), he showed the world he wasn't afraid of their judgements. Rarely did a star get that candid about struggles, but it wasn't a thing for him. Long live Metta World Peace. May you keep your peace

I loved Artest. As a Pacers fan, it was great to have such a dominant defender. The malice at the palace was devastating. The Pacers should have gone all the way that year for the great Reggie Miller. But Ron has indeed come a long way since that incident. You gotta respect how he took responsibility and tried his best to better himself.

a legit beast. in a horribly underrated and overlooked era of NBA talent- he was definitely a difference maker. ppl tend to forget how savage the NBA was in the 00s- and he was there for all of it. unfortunately all the antics made it seem like he never took the game seriously. as good as he was- he still never seemed to maximize on his true potential

Artest/World Peace would be solid in today's game. Physical on Defense, great screen setter, potentially capable 3pt shooter (40% on 5.6 attempts his season in Houston), and was a slasher in his prime. With all the perimeter scorers in the league today he would be like a 6'7 260lb Marcus Smart.

Artest was the best defender from 2001-2010...i remember games were he held prime lebron to 15 points on 6/24 shooting...lebron never has game like that...artest was built strong n use to bully the best scorers with hes strength n toughness...he was was the main reason why the lakers won game 7 of 2010 finals. Kobe was horrible that day couldnt make any jumpers. Without artest that game would be a blowout. Artest defended pierce well, who was red hot in the finals

My dad is a Pacers fan, and for many years, he literally would not talk about the malice. If you brought it up, he would cut you off and say "We're not getting into that" and if you persisted, he would leave the room. Not just that, be he outright stopped following basketball until like 2011 since he was so demoralized.
