Negative reviews caused me to avoid this for several years and when I did get around to it I wasn't feeling it and almost gave up. And then diff parts started to jump out at me. Cube's song, One Shot One Kill and then by the third time thru the album it all made sense. It has maybe the best intro track connecting into first 'song' I've ever heard. And when I heard that prev unreleased Eazy E one liner out of nowhere I about died. This album isn't trying to appeal to the young hip hop listener, it's for adults. IMO this is better start to finish than 2001 as that album is long winded and had filler. DRE learned from that and Compton is lean and perfectly edited and sequenced.

not sure why I never saw this comment. Either way, yes!! Such an amazing album. I am shocked more people don't like it.

Love this album although agree his voice sounds very different. His parts do get a bit watered down as there's SO many features that it doesn't really feel like a Dre album. But it's still strong. Fave tracks It's All On Me, One Shot One Kill and Talking To My Diary

Sorry Amir, but I thought this album was pretty average. "The Chronic" was a true masterpiece, and "2001" was pretty dope. Of course I did not expect "Compton" to be a classic (based on the logic "Album #1 and #2 were classics so #3 must be aswell"), but at least I thought this album could be decent. The beats, normally the strong point on Dre albums, was just pure average, and the raps were not great either. So many unknown artists with no great talent. Also doesn't help that the album starts with a guy just singing strange auto-tuned shit into your ear. This album doesn't sound like a individual great Dr. Dre record, more like every other rap album released that year. "Loose Cannons" and "One Shot One Kill" are by far the best tracks on this thing. The rest is purely medicore. still love your content tho, peace man!

Score hey bro! Thanks for the feedback! I gotta say tho... each album he dropped has featured new artists... The Chronic introduced Snoop to people for the most part, Dogg Pound, Rage, RBX, and that was a major success. 2001 introduces Hittman, and showcased Eminem after he was a new signee , same year as SSLP. So, that I can’t really agree with, but, it is very different sounding than previous albums. Of the three, it’s my least fav, but I think it’s amazing nonetheless lol
