The big thing for me (besides Michael not even being on it) was the fact Laurie and Allison’s characters made no sense. Laurie made a whole trap house and turned her daughter into a little soldier for the CHANCE of him getting out and waited 40 years. Then he ends up not only escaping but also killing her daughter and he never gets apprehended and she just gives all that up? And Allison needs no therapy and is in no type of depression after LOSING BOTH OF HER PARENTS TO MICHAEL MYERS and her only purpose is to just be a love interest for Cory?The movie was a whole mess 💀

Framing Laurie makes no sense. Like you have this woman who has this well known history of Michael Myers encounters and is considered to be a bit coocky. Her killing someone who is dressed up as Myers and broke into her home would seem to everyone as self defense with some ptsd from previous encounters. Like she might get locked up for a bit but she wouldn't really be arrested for killing him.

I can’t stand fans like you , the problem with listening to 100% of what fans want is that y’all have these very close minded views on the characters in this franchise should act, so it leaves the creatives with very little range to do new things to keep the franchise fresh while not veering off so much as to piss y’all off. And unfortunately they will run out of ideas, and then y’all start complaining that everything is the same and you want something fresh & different. @@trey12184,5,6 and H20 way better than Ends. Michael actually appears before the 40 minute mark and they give explanations to what he’s doing and why he’s doing it. If they were going to do a different story, they should’ve done it like Halloween 3 and not even try to awkwardly shove Michael into the movie. Ends is way better than Zombie’s 1 and 2 though, I’ll give you that. Those are an utter train wreck. It still boggles my mind that those scripts got approved with the dialogue in those movies, I have never heard people talk like that. EVER.

You’re not wrong. Everything about the physics is off: the kid wasn’t tall enough to be thrown all the way over the railing. When he’s seen falling he’s seen falling face down. But when he lands, he’s on his back and his head is being seen broken backwards. So on top of the kid suddenly being 30 pounds and with bones like paper, he somehow changes direction twice while falling, because when he goes over the rail it’s sideways.

That was Jamie Lee's idea, she said during lock down she told the writers and director that she didn't liked the story and wanted to pitch in the whole, "evil spreads" and their solution to fit that in the new script was adding the whole Corey and Allison love story

@oliviareilly8969 a few documentaries or break down videos on YT talk about this in more details but basically, David Gordon Green took all the heat for the blowback and took solo credit on writing the story saying he wanted to make a Christine Halloween movie, which is why he had the whole Correy and Allison thing the whole focus. But Danny McBride actually said the truth that Jamie Lee used her star power to change the script and the story, and they were forced to make those changes by blumhouse. Also another example of Jamie leeds using her power play was trying to prevent Universal and Malek Akkad from inviting the other final girls from the past Halloween films to attend Halloween Ends premiere. Which Danielle Harris (Jamie) said he was getting side eye by Curtis the whole time.

This movie ruined the whole franchise. The only thing that was barely saving it was Corey's descent into his version of Michael Myers. Only to get killed off at the end by the very thing that manifested the darkness inside of him. So stupid too, Michael was barely living and he still managed to kill a somewhat weakened Corey from the gunshots that Laurie gave him. This is a true horror movie for any horror icon franchise fan. Biggest one ever.

Laurie Strode's behavior feels very jumbled in these like they're out of order. Laurie in 2018 with the doomsday bunker is the natural reaction to her daughter being murdered and Michael not being caught in Kills. It makes no sense for her to feel paranoid in 2018 when she only has had the one encounter with Michael and he was caught. With that aside I liked the video Spooky, I require more.

I agree with everything you said. The only theory I have left is that the power of Michael Myers is not in the man, but in the mask; the identity. There is evil within the mask (pun intended). Because he is literally immortal to everything, and he has his mask on during those times. But both Corey and Michael die after the mask is taken off of them. Maybe, all this time, Michael was just a vessel? Corey was that as well for a time. The mask might be the pure evil, and it just looks for a good target. Almost like the one ring in LOTR. I get what you’re saying but remember in Halloween 1978, Sheriff Bracket had a report of a Halloween shop broken into and a mask was stolen. It’s not the mask. He wears a mask for some sort of outlook, a portrait but it’s definitely him. Remember Dr Loomis studied Michael for 15 years and never said a word. Only stared into the void and one night on Halloween, he escaped and came home.

I don’t think this movie was stellar either, but I think the takes here could use some work. 1. Michael’s not going for Laurie in Kills, he’s getting back home. He does that. 2. He does kill kids in this timeline. It makes sense Jeremy might not have heard but I thought you would know about that. 3. Laurie gave up all of her relationships, even with her daughter, to keep them safe from Michael, and it didn’t work. If he’s going to come back and kill anyway, why bog herself down by giving up any life she could be living before then? 4. Band was a weird choice, yeah, but I don’t think bad people are barred by what classes are being taken by them and it’s important to not pick jocks to show he does have a chance to take them on and doesn’t take it. 5. His mother is shown to be really controlling of him, of course he turns down Allyson at first. He’s scared to disobey her. (Though Allyson being this forward IS weird.) 6. Corey goes from actively avoiding violence to drawing a knife to actually killing someone. They’re making a slow decline into his evil and obviously the earlier stuff isn’t supposed to count as real “feats”. 7. I think you’re viewing Michael’s motivations a little too simplistically. Obviously speculative, but the argument that Michael should kill more if he wants to stay strong is inherently assuming that’s what he wants. He wanted to go home last movie. He did. Maybe he wants it to move along. 8. Do you really want a horror movie to give you a formula for how Michael works exactly? I’d say that completely deflates his appeal as a character. 9. Laurie knows the Shape, she knows he likes to return to his first kill. If she thinks Corey’s going down that road, why not try checking where his first kill* was? 10. Laurie is suspicious of Corey and doesn’t want him near her daughter. He does not need Michael’s motivation (which keep in mind isn’t there Hawkins literally says “this isn’t about you” to Laurie in Kills) to pursue her. 11. Allyson realizes Laurie couldn’t have killed Corey because she has demonstrated to her that she’s not that kind of neurotic person anymore. There was a reason for them to have her move on.

Yup the issue is that they decided to shift the focus on a new killer (Corey) and they decided to do it in the last movie of the trilogy…the last movie should have been an epic showdown between Michael and everyone in the town…Instead Michael is barely in the movie, he and Laurie have a three minute fight scene in a kitchen and then he immediately dies…This movie was like a horror version of batman and Robin in the absolute worst way possible.

It was probably meant to be a separate story like Halloween 3 but the studio was absolutely not going to let that happen considering how much blowback Halloween 3 received through out the years for not having Michael Myers. I love it and it developed a cult following now but it’s been a black sheep in the franchise for a long time until fairly recently. Ends feels oddly stitched together and the whole Michael part feels rushed and out of place.

The last film in the trilogy was a terrible time to do the corey story (bars). They should've introduced him in 2018 or even kills to build *something* up. Maybe show Michael seeing the corey incident from the beginning happen, and there are scenes where Michael is watching Corey, studying him. Have the audience interpret it as Michael stalking a victim, but pull a twist where it's revealed that Michael actually saw some different kind of evil in Corey he could use. Now that's not a perfect plot but it would've been better than what we got

I feel like they should have made it clear that Michael was aging so the evil in him needed a new host. Cory. Then you could play with the idea that the evil is seeping into Cory and starting to corrupt him. He loves Allyson, but the evil in him is turning that into possesivnes and obsession. And he does creepy stuff around Laurie because Evil. Instead of killing him, he could drag Cory off for sequel bait.

i think a town map with a sub sewer area would be better, especially if he had a power like pyramid head where instead of using hooks he can send them below and suspended by the lights would be really cool, especailly knowing you have to then enter the more dangerous sewer area to go save your team mate.

So glad I didn't watch this movie, holy shit this seems absolutely terrible. They should do this series justice and remake this film. Like you said, Michael slowly restoring his strength throughout the entire film and ending with a Laurie vs Myers fight. Don't know why they'd introduce a new character just to kill him off after an hour of character development. This is actually so depressing, the first movie in this trilogy was actually really good. How did it go so wrong.

Editing is great, humor is amazing as always! This literally summed up my feelings about the movie. Had they introduced Corey in Halloween 2018 and hinted and built up to him being the "new" Michael, and Alysson being the "new" Laurie, I would have been okay with that. But there's all this build up for no payoff. And it left such a bad taste in my mouth lmao. I did love James Jude Courtney as Michael though overall, and 2018 is my favorite film in the franchise. Getting to meet him a second time soon as well as Nick Castle for the first time!

Something I see you gloss over is the plot with the Cory/Allyson romance, but it goes further into the relationship between both Laurie and Michael as well. Corey, being the new town pariah, is left in a position of social neglect and isolation. As soon as he meets all three characters, his actions for the remainder of the film pushes forward the other characters. Allyson becomes more resentful of the people around her in Corey's rebellious influence, Laurie regresses into that paranoid old woman she was before, and Michael returns to fighting form through the inspiration of a new killer with a shared interest in bloodlust. Corey was ultimately a martyr who went through a journey of self-destruction through increasing violence, paving the way to Laurie's final encounter with Michael. Corey, at the end of his story, is an entirely different character than who we saw in the beginning, becoming a darker version of himself unhinged by tragedy. I love this entry in the trilogy for expanding on the concept of evil, and how it can move beyond the likes of Michael Myers himself and be presented in other people. Also, moldy Michael is one of my favorite designs of the character.

I'm actually happy you made this. I saw all movies prior to the last one, my sister told me not to and she and I have been huge Halloween fans for most of our lives. I knew some of what occurred in the last movie from KZbin clips but you just filled in most of the gaps for me. This is actually pretty astonishing with how horrible that movie is, it almost feels like they put no effort at all remembering any lore and rushed with some type of Wattpad story. This is almost criminal with how disrespectful they were towards this franchise.

After watching Halloween Ends i took the story as a nod to The Curse of Michael Myers but this movie took a different route. Personally i felt like they wanted a way to create a NEW Michael, when Cory and Mikey get into their first grip battle in the sewer for the audience we see Cory's pain through his eyes reflecting into Michaels telling us Michael can see his pain his anguish once Michael realized he found someone like him thats "broken" in his old age knowing time would take him instead of someone else he saw a way for THAT EVIL inside him to continue through Cory showing him how to murder and how to relish their victims life through their eyes but Cory got greedy thinking he could fight the man himself. Then alllll that build up for what couldve been a sick ass modern Mikey to only end up killing him off cuz Michael feels some type of way about that greasy ass mask. Then we get the complete left field fight with Lourie and Michael which shouldve been built up from the beginning of the movie but for some reason they wanted to make.....a thriller/romance/slasher?/drama....shit just throw the whole genre book at the movie thats pretty much what they wanted to do 🤣

I still remember being in the theater and it was the one time i spoke loud in the theater ever. When he's giving him the speech, telling Corey not to see her granddaughter anymore. I shouted "YOU WERE THE ONE THAT INTRODUCED THEM!" The movie just made everyone act the opposite of their characters, and it felt like they had no idea how hard on the gas to step for Myers. They should've either full blown swapped to Corey but establish there's more evil in him, or have Myers be an actual threat. Not this, weird in between Ends had. But honestly the one part that probably irked me the most, is when Corey tells Laurie's granddaughter "I killed a guy" ...and that somehow gets her all hot and bothered. SHE SHOULD BE THE LAST PERSON TO FIND THAT HOT AFTER WHAT SHES BEEN THROUGH, A YEAR AGO!

To defend Laurie here, the reason she's like this in ends is because she deluded herself into thinking she materialized Micheal to return. Throughout the 2018 movie it was all about her revenge and she didn't care about the consequences until her daughter died. She strongly believed that she was capable, her family was capable, until she realized they weren't. So after her daughter died so takes in her perspective: to not live in fear, to live life to the best of it. She blames herself for the deaths that happened on that day, so she doesn't want to let her grand daughter live the life her daughter did. Which is why she's like that in ends, they just don't elaborate on it so it look jarring. She is prepared to fight Micheal if it came to it, but she's hoping he returns anymore. Also in Halloween kills she realized that Micheal doesn't even care about her in the sense she thought. In her head she thought he returned for her, but in actuality he was plopped near Laurie in 2018, he would've never went towards her direction otherwise. Which is why he never comes for her in the hospital. This is the only aspect I'd defend, the rest is pretty weak imo

Think the thing most folks forget with this trilogy, something the director himself said. This trilogy is more a character study on trauma and how it affects everyone 2018 -how it affected Laurie Kills- how the trauma affects the town Ends- how the town is afraid to move forward and needs another boogeyman. You said so yourself Michael is evil incarnate, he grows from fear. This is exactly what the movie shows. After 40 years they added some depth instead of just Michael Vs Mega Laurie kaiju

I don't know I've had a lot of time to think about it, But I love Halloween Ends like a lot. To me its better then a lot of sequels, even Kills. I think the only issue I have with it is not having Corey being introduced in the first 2018 movie so his build up is worth it. I think with the story it was trying to tell it actually works for me with how Michael infects people with his evil. Edit: I think its one of those horror movies that will get more love in the future. Ex: Friday the 13th 2009, Evil Dead 2013. Or will just be my guilty pleasure lol

This was a fun watch compared to the usual stuff, would absolutely love to hear more passionate rants and rambles. Ends is a mixed bag for me. It pays a LOT of homage to Carpenter's "CHRISTINE" via Corey, who honestly would've been a better character if brought in during 2018 or Kills. I see *what* they were going for and the messages, tying off everything for Laurie and giving her a happy ending. But between sudden characters and loose ends and having the monstrous poster child out of sight for the bulk of the movie, it just felt weird. I hope the series that's being made is good but we'll see.

There’s only 1 thing I disagree with here. When Corey told Allyson that he killed someone and she didn’t ask any questions about and sorta ignored the fact he confessed to murder. She didn’t question it because she assumed he was talking about the kid accidentally dying at the beginning while Corey was babysitting. For me, it made sense that she didn’t question it, thinking he was, more or less, finally coming to terms with the incident. That’s just my take on that sense. The movie is still trash.

Michael is indiffernt to Laurie in this timeline. The Doctor from the start of the trilogy put him in her path. In Kills he only wanted to get back to his house, he doesn't track down Laurie because she isn't special to him. In Ends he wants Cory to carry out his work, because hes getting old and weak, and he sees evil in his eyes. He only runs into Laurie again because he followed Cory to get his mask back.

I only tolerate this film for ONE reason- my friend, Michael O’Leary played Dr. Mathis. I’ve known and respected Michael for over a decade, and since my childhood, I watched him nearly 5 days a week as Dr. Rick Bauer on Guiding Light. He was on GL for nearly 40 years, and prior to that, he had a couple of small parts, including a role in a low-budget early 80s slasher film, “Fatal Games.” He said such great things about the cast and crew, and it’s been really inspiring to see his career pop off in his 60s. However, Halloween Ends is a terrible movie. I don’t like anything else about it.

Halloween Ends was bad from the start. Like from the beginning, when it was revealed it takes place so much later. The point of Halloween Kills was actually not just Michael himself. It was the effect his evil was having on Haddonfield. His darkness was contagious, seeping into its residents and driving them insane. All of Haddonfield was ready to blow from sheer trauma and paranoia, something that Michael seemed to be deliberately stoking. This is something that ties not just into the new movies, it runs all the way through the franchise. The idea that exposure to Myers, even for one night, corrupts people for their entire lives. It's why Laurie says he has to die. The urgency of killing Myers before the town is taken by his evil becomes the main conflict in the story. And then YEARS LATER we cut to Myers living in a sewer tunnel, apparently jacking off and having decided to live the rest of his life eating rats and being a hermit. The town has mostly moved on. Like, what? Instead of the vastly more interesting conflict with Myers and his influence over Haddonfield, the build-up to his final confrontation with Laurie Strode, we get 3/4ths of a movie about poorly written character drama and a cringe teenage romance. It's wild. It's like it's doing its best to try and gaslight you into checking to see if you're watching the right movie.

Nothing can replicate my hype for the horror genre going into Halloween Ends. The climactic end of this story, 44 years in the making, this trilogy alone 4 years of build up and it s wasted on a decrepit old man who isn’t the shape of evil or the supernatural animal he was in 78,18 and Kills. The idea of his evil passing to someone else is one thing. Maybe have him infect Corey in a small subplot in Ends that then gets its own trilogy for the multiple writers of this movie to have free rein to do whatever they want.

I honestly hated this movie more than I did resurrection and 5. First it didnt know if it wanted to be a love story or a halloween movie. They made Michael a wuss. I mean Corey gets beat up by kids but yet can hold his own against Michael. They spent so much time on Corey taking over as the shape but killed him. They did the final battle between Laurie and Michael stupid. Michael and her deserved a H2O battle. What they could of done with Ends was have Michael and Laurie have there epic battle, them killing off Michael, Corey taking over as the shape. Laurie and Sheriff ride off into the sunset together. Which would end the Michael and Laurie saga. And they could do something different with Corey or have him chasing Allyson. Sure they wouldnt have Michael but they would have another in the blue jump suit and mask. Im not sure if Moustapha's son is going to honor what he wanted. Which was in an interview he said would stop Halloween after 22, because Donald Pleasance said he would stop being in them at 22. That way they can have a younger person as the shape, instead of Michael going toward the Jason route as undead or immortal.

I said this originally, I think that this movie would’ve been fine if it was two separate movies. Guy meets a famous serial killer, becomes a copycat and ultimately falls to said killer. Along with Michael Myers getting got by Laurie strode and the town destroys his body. Two fine films on their own, fucking AWFUL to put in the same film. Halloween Ends gave us 2 of the best michaels ever. 1 in a decaying michael, who's psychological prowess looms over haddonfield without even having to be there physically, and another in Corey. Once corey dawned michaels mask that was the closest we've gotten to Nick Castle. A skinny, young man, part evil, part man. It was perfect. Nick Castle, corey as michael, and old sewer michael are my top 3 michael performances

That’s the whole point of making them not related again (I say again because it was never intended within the original vision of the first film)
