By actually challenging an entire dojo clan when push come to shove he will fight when he fought speck, spec is literally a death row inmate. He has not ethical restraints on hurting the hell out of himself or anyone else he knows he has seen it all forms of weaponry hanayama is tame if you earn his respect and he happens to have that obligation he will fight to defend you. so I am not going one way or the other he respects his opponents and his comrades or opponents by not interfering he follows the philosophy of fair fighting hence. why he didn’t get involved with Baki and yanagi or sirkosky. even when he went to fight the yazuka it was not a senseless death they had been at war with his families clan while he’s basically a gangster depending on what type of yazuka in anime they have honor to a degree so I don’t see how he’s crazier than spec. that man will do anything when he’s desperate or does not give a damn to put you six feet under hanayama doesnt even change his attacks for the same reason. if you will see it coming then you’d know how to react to it but I digress on that so he’s no saint but he’s not a mindless killer like spec if you mess around you find out that’s the definition of hanayama.

Tanking a hit sure takes the wind out of an aggressors sails. I remember in junior high while standing in line for the long jump, a bully (in general, not someone who targeted me for harassment) decided to punch me in the gut. There was nothing wrong with his punch to his credit. But I had seen it coming, and despite being only 13 or so had already been training my body and had taken a bit of karate. And so, I flexed my stomach before contact and moved in towards the attack. I was not winded or hurt. I did not fight back or react. In that moment, I was standing taller than this lad who stood 6 inches higher than me. He meekly asked: "Didn't that hurt?" To which I replied: "No." And he and his friends awkwardly shuffled off. Later that week in the locker room when I had my shirt off he exclaimed in surprise that I had a 6 pack. It may sound strange, but I will always remember with fondness that punch to the stomach.
