Gladiator - the scene when he died and walk the field and touches the crops and see his wife and son - just the sound, only 2 seconds, and I cry like a baby. Same for my wife - I played a Hans Zimmer Live video on KZbin and just when the sound started she immediately started to cry.
@DUKE_of_RAMBLE9 ай бұрын
I've cried during a movie before, but _Interstellar_ was the first time I've ever been moved to tears due to awe and beauty... When they first saw *Gargantua* (the black hole), THAT was what did it. _[I unfortunately didn't see it in theaters, and yet _*_still,_*_ this was my experience when watching the Blu-ray on a 46" 1080P TV!]_ I think that part of it came down to having seen a show on the Science Channel about how that black hole visual model was a *legitimate* science endeavor, by astrophysicists (which they also wrote a paper about). So going into the movie I knew that Gargantua was scientifically very accurate, based on countless hours of simulation. It really was beautiful... 🥲

Nolan already knew where the heart of the movie was when he wrote the story for Hans. His musical piece just solidified it. Jonathan Nolan was doing this script for Spielberg for 6 years before Spielberg had to walk away because the script was attached to Paramount who at the time Dreamworks was on their lot, and then switched hands to Disney in 2012. At which time Jonathan recommended Christopher as the replacement for Spielberg.

Yes and yet when he dismisses Amelia Brand's factual scientific data when he realizes that she is in love with Miller... That's two things I thought were so frustrating in the movie: first Cooper is moved by the love for his daughter but actually dismisses Brand's scientific opinion because he thinks it cannot be objective because of her feelings, and second Brand doesn't reply that she bases herself on facts to advise to travel to Miller's planet, she tries to justify that love is great or something.

@robertdora702618 күн бұрын
@samphyllobates4765 because Hans Zimmer got offered Dune, a childhood book obsession of his, and it's composing and scoring period clashed with that for Nolan's Tenet. I don't know exactly if that was the same reason why Zimmer didn't score for Oppenheimer (although Dune 2 was made during the same period as Oppenheimer was). While Nolan was reportedly surprised and disappointed that Zimmer turned down Tenet for Dune, it doesn't necessarily mean Nolan's is upset about it, or that they aren't talking, but it will be interesting to see if in a movie or two's time they have gotten back together on the big screen. Fingers crossed that they do 🤞

This reminds me of the movie Inception. One of the dialogue was something like “In order for an idea to grow, it must be as simple as it can be.” Interstellar’s main message was about a father’s duty/promise to his daughter. That was it. But the premise & backdrop was in space and through time. Damn.
