Flick’s preference for wingers to invert slightly alleviates my Olmo at LW concerns. Olmo at LW under Xavi would’ve been disastrous but I could see him excelling in the Flick system. Coming inside for combinations in the center could be productive. Interested to see how Yamal does with that as well - he was more central in the Spain euro run and that was exciting. Most notably for that goal against France Great analysis as always!!
@rialpleya3 ай бұрын
Thing is, as he said in the video, that requires high fullback. That's covered on the left with Balde. I wonder who would do right side. Maybe Hector Fort? Kounde is not very offensive

Then you haven't watched any game with xavi because his lw was literally an inverted one and played centrally a lot
@connorrichardbailey69373 ай бұрын
@@tonyfonta4094 Xavi would invert the LW mostly to form a box midfield - remember Gavi at LW? Whenever Felix would play LW, he would hug the touchline for a lot of the buildup play and would only tuck into the half-space in the final third. Flick inverts BOTH wingers and creates overloads in the central area, which is a system where I think Olmo could excel. I get the feeling Xavi inverted the LW because he lacked a dynamic winger who could take on players one-on-one. Xavi wanted to generate all chances down the wings.
@tonyfonta40943 ай бұрын
@@connorrichardbailey6937 yeah so it doesn't change anything because olmo was lw anyway. Also remember raphinha lw he was playing this role. So yeah in both system the lw is in the middle.

Football truly is a brilliant game. Decades ago we saw the dominance of the 442 and to beat the 2 midfielders you had more creative shapes using 3 midfielders like 433 and 4231. From there to beat those tactics you needed 4 midfielders in these 3-2-5 shapes, where the team sheet has almost no resemblance of the positions in possession. These tactics had set structure in place to defeate the free flowing 10s of the 4231. Thing is though, with everyone adopting it, a Xavi system that was once La Liga winning, quickly becasme predictable and rigid. The was to evolve from there? An modern version of a 442/4231. Full cycle

Please make video for current Barca under hansi flick
@reidpattis31273 ай бұрын
As for the 5th point, hard work and energy, Hansi Flick has some BOLD decisions to make. The game against Monaco demonstrated that if the players can’t continuously run into spaces, the attack becomes static. (Of course, if full backs can’t cross the ball well, that is also a concern). The fact of the matter is that a lot of the first team players from last year just aren’t energetic enough to make the verticality work. Hansi may need to cut some of them from the team.

yes we need some fresh legs on the pitch can't wait for Gavi man
@TheJohnnyJohnny3 ай бұрын
From what I observe the pitch on Montjuïc stadium is a bit too heavy for players to move around compared to those in pre-season pitch in California. Those heavy pitch need some fixing to fit for Flick's tactics. Idk, that is what I saw when Monaco battered us. We get better result away compared in home. This pitch/grass was the reason on why Xavi bottled against PSG.

@@TheJohnnyJohnny Why Xavi And not Barcelona? Why PSG and not Enrique? Barca bottled because of Araujo red card. But youre not wrong, the pitch of the Montjuic is shiiiit
@dudeshiya3 ай бұрын
There was a serious lack of energy to apply pressure in this Monaco game, especially from Lewandowski, which led to almost everyone giving up on pressing. Also, the attack became quite static. The big question really is, will this FCB team be fit enough for a Flick ball. At the moment, it is a 50-50.
@TheJohnnyJohnny3 ай бұрын
@@wallahhabibiiii No, I thought Xavi was a lame manager. But when I look back again during Xavi time in Barca, those lacklustre performance and massive injuries list was never his fault. Montjuic pitch was the whole culprit for the team's downfall. It seems that Flick could not apply his tactic successfully in his first game in Montjuic stadium. The tempo of the gameplay has been the same since Xavi left. Now, it's up to Barca to either improve the Montjuic pitch to better adjust the players or quickly finish the renovation of Camp Nou ASAP.

As an Austrian I am a bit reminded of Rangnik ball who also tries to play much throughout the middle however with a faster build up. I know this is purely a tactics channel and I doubt you’re that much of a Barca fan but I just wanted to point out my frustration with the Board and how disappointing they’ve been this transfer window. It’s obvious they had about 100+ million to spend on players with how eager they were to sign both Nico and Olmo. So it’s beyond me how they didn’t focus on another low cost priority (a Merino for 20-30 million, or hell even Guido Rodriguez for free) while combining both The Nico and Olmo funds to pursue a LW better than both like a Kvaratskhelia when the Nico Williams deal wasn’t looking likely. While also pursuing Xavi Simons of a cost-free loan, which the player was reportedly open to when we showed interest, if we still insisted on signing an attacking midfielder. Now we’re starting the season without our key deep midfield players and only one signing in a position we already had covered🤦🏾♂️
@flyingaviator81583 ай бұрын
Dios mio! Where do you get your information about Barcelona's finances? 100 + Million to spend? My friend, please dont fall into laportas trapp of believeing a word he is saying: He wants Barca to look strong. But if you look at the latest financial report, the CFCB issues awaiting, and registration issues, you can clearly see that the amount of transfers you suggest is far from what Barcelona can achieve! You won't see this amount of high-level transfers for years.
@irukandji893 ай бұрын
It seems for every successful transaction, there's a hidden interest and profit for Deco or Laporta and for such deals that the profit won't be possible, they do not pursue such deals even if the player is important or needed. Because we do not need olmo more than we needed a lw or a dm

As a long time Barca fan, Flick is exactly what Barca need. The last manager to really have control over the players was Luis Enrique. Since his departure, the squad has lacked discipline and fitness. Flick barely cracked a smile after being up 7-0 in their last match. He is trying to understand every players strength and weakness to get the very best out of them and adjust when needed. By week 10 we’ll be able to get an idea of how we will end the season.

I feel that Gavi will excel in Hansi Flicks system with his constant energy and running. He has always been good at playing with constant pressure and will play a pivotal role in this system. The only concern I have is, where does De Jong fit in? Playing as a pivot has never really worked for him, so playing him futher up field might work. However that's when we need those technical players like Pedri and Olmo to excel with their first touches and quick feet. I'm excited for this new season and hopefully when Araujo, Gavi, Christensen and De jong returns from injury, that's when we will see the system work.
@flowpom3 ай бұрын
Great analysis. I expect Gavi and Olmo to match very well in Flick’s system. Frenkie and Fermin too. Pedri might only have 45-60 min in his legs in this system, but it’s pure magic. What about Kounde? his profile is offensive enough? And Fort? Renewing Cancelo is very needed, athough his clearly lacks in energy and defense in big game. Only for one half. What about Chiesa / Nico Willians? More wing player can offer alternative system and relief in Yamine / Balde in the dribling department.

Unfortunately I think the board under Laporta has completely failed the club again. No planning whatsoever going into the transfer market, and some key positions haven’t been addressed or at least not yet. Paying so much for Olmo was also a mistake imo. Also it doesn’t help that literal deadwoods like Lewandowski are trusted blindly.

I find it hilarious when people pass judgments without being conscious about the situation at the club; you're free to share your views, of course, but managing the financial situation, and negotiating with anyone when they know you are desperate makes it really hard to get results. Laporta and the board have made tremendous progress in returning the club to being sustainable and competing again. Look at the team, name by name, he inherited from the previous board, and where the club was on the national and international stage; since he came back, he managed to improve the team a lot, win a league and a Supercup, all while building the new stadium and improving all sponsorship contracts so far...
