THAT SONG WAS MADE BY AYASE NOT YOASOBI. YOASOBI is a unit and they make novels to music. Ikura is the singer and Ayase is the producer. Only Ayase from YOASOBI had his hands full on Hero and this was created for the Miku event. Ikura or YOASOBI had no part in the song. Edit: I want people to recognise Ayase as an individual artist. You should also know that ikura has her solo activities going on.

@@amirnuriev9092well, isn’t that the point? To make music, you have to be at least decent at composing. There’s really no reason for you to bring talent into this. The only way you can learn is by trying something. Some get the gist of it the first time, while some need to try a lot more. Just because my first artwork is trash doesn’t just mean I don’t have the skills to do it. I just have to learn. Vice versa, just because my first artwork is really good doesn’t mean I should put myself on a pedestal of talent and not try to improve because I am already really good. Don’t dismiss others’ hard work by just laughing and calling it talent.

It's less than hiring a singer and more like less real life pressure making it easier for them to go crazy and experiment with any style you want. Once you're in vocaloid community long enough you'll easily spot an ex-vocaloid P (short for Producer which is how we refer to these artist) by music style... that is their instrument will be more... active than the singer. Because in Vocaloid melody is the face of the artist. However just as vocaloid is a blessing it's also a curse. A lot of these ex-P have confidence issue since they cannot know whether they're well liked for their talent or because Virtual idol that is Hatsune Miku. This is why a lot of ex-P try to distance themselves from vocaloid once they try to make it big. Which gave birth to song like Odds & Ends and Unkown Mother goose which is basically about this separation and went back to the root

I feel this is more like how Hatsune Miku saved Ayase. A struggling artist who started making vocaloid music from his hospital bed and then going on to create a name in vocaloid space, signing a record with Sony Entertainment of all companies, recruits ikura, drops the phenomenon called Yoru ni Kakeru. Ultimately, both had their life changed in a way ig. Miku saved Ayase, Ayase recruiting ikura had made dramatic change to her life and both struck for a great debut song and there was no looking back.

Yeah, the title has a contextual error. Hatsune Miku saved Ayase before the existence of YOASOBI. Also a better word would be "gave rise to" instead of "saved" if the band name is the focus.

To be honest, the biggest posibility is that most of the musicians in Japan have a contact with Sony. Sony just helps them like hell, and keeps investing money on music and artists. I agree with what you said, but I believe that even without Yoasobi, Ikura sooner or later would get the success she deserved. I'm saying that, because, she was in Plusonica for 5 years (I think), which is also backed from Sony, so I don't think that they would let her just like that. Since The First Take, Plusonica and Yoasobi are all backed from Sony, there are connections between them. Already two musicians from Plusonica have gone to The First Take (Ikura and Nishina), and when The First Take held a competition for new upcoming artists, three or four people in the contestants were from Plusonica. If you have no idea about Plusonica, search it. There are a few amazing voices in there.

Has there been any other J-POP band or artist that has reached this level on a global scale? I don't think so. But again, we are speaking in hindsight. There are artists like Kenshi Yonezu, but only a few artists are as popular as YOASOBI (on global scale). I am also aware of Plusonica. They have many groups/branches based in different parts of Japan. The vocalist of NOMELON NOLEMON is also from Plusonica. As a fan of Tsumiki and NOMELON NOLEMON, I am sad that they don't get the recognition they deserve. Sony certainly supports all of their artists, but not everyone achieves international success. Most of the artists are mainly popular in Japan.

It's honestly amazing Ayase kept going on despite everything. I've listen to his old songs and I think they were really good, he had a special talent for music. The only problem was having that defining vocalist and luckily fate brought Ikura and Ayase together to create masterpieces. And I believe Ikura said she was able to get so far thanks to her parents support. She always had a beautiful and unique voice so I'm surprised she had some struggle.

To be fair a lot of current top japanese artist is a vocaloid "graduate" The total freedom offered by vocaloid let them create unorthodox music style that let them stand out in the industry... and it's a shame that some of the artist hate their vocaloid era like Wowaka and Kenshi. Another thing I love from ex-P is that once in a while they came back to Vocaloid they usually wrote a "reunion" vocaloid song that are absolute bangers

That song in general is about the frustration of being a musician but also contains lines like goes something like [You can say I'm lucky but am I happy with this?] He can easily lie in interview given that there's no merit in antagonizing the vocaloid community. However it is a fact that there's artist who thought that they're just piggybacking on Hatsune miku to success.. that's why some ex-P doesn't market themselves using their established vocaloid producer name. Oh and Ryo Odds & Ends is literally just highlighting this issue

In his interview with DECO*27, he mentioned that he was starting to feel like people was only interested in the kind of music he made with vocaloid. As if if he didn’t make a vocaloid song that fits that same specific mold as the songs he used to make, people wouldn’t listen to it. He also said that he fell into a depressive phase after dropping out of vocaloid. So he was lucky, but was he happy? Anyway, I personally fail to see any reason he would make up such elaborate lies, even if he had to conceal his real thoughts with vocaloid. And if you insist he must had been lying in interviews, why are you even so sure he didn’t lie in his lyrics as well?

You're acting as if you lying in interview is a completely alien concept for you while people lie all the time on interview. It's called "being diplomatic" to put it nicely or just "politician/corpo/cover up talks" if you want to be mean about it. Music however is different. A self produced music is the honest expression of the artist. If it's a heavily produced studio band then I can easily see them lying in their music but a self-produced artist who write, compose and edit their own music have little reason to lie. Unless you can name any reason for him OR ANY SELF PRODUCED ARTIST EVER for that matters to lie in their music then I'm all ears but otherwise you're just grasping at straws.

It isn't unique to vocaloid. So many artists and singers get caged into a certain sound to appease their core audience because that's how money is made. Ayase's voice is nice but it doesn't appeal to a wide audience. As much as I like Ayase because of his music and his effort of trying to use Miku, Ikura's angelic voice is the second factor to Yoasobi's 'signature sound' and its success.

Vocaloid basically sums up what happens when you make something more accessible to people. There's a reason why all these big jpop artists and producers have vocaloid roots. Vocaloid software opened so many doors to allow people to create music without the traditional pathway of affording equipment/instruments/teams/production/studio rentals/etc. Especially for younger folks. Fast forward almost 5-10 years and these same "rookies" are now industry professionals. Today's social media era has also really helped jumpstart online careers and success. The music industry is so competitive and hard to get a foot in, especially if you weren't backed by another company/studio. But things like youtube, vocaloid and social media have broken down a lot of these barriers and now we have artists with humble roots making it bigger than company-backed artists.

Hard work always pays you back, sooner or later. But you must also have a Sony in your country. The amount of help and boost that Sony gives to the youth is really huge, and admirable. I had no idea about how Yoasobi started, and that it's backed from Sony, but I had heard about Plusonica, and The First Take. To think that Plusonica takes in the youth that is trying to exist in that huge world of music, and tries to give them knowledge and experience, is just unbelievable. And The First Take which makes the artists take more popularity, being alraedy famous or not, and also giving a totally different experience compared to a normal recording with all the mixing, effects, mastering etc.
