Bhai doing a co-op is really important. If you have an option go for it. I got my co-op on my own with RBC and got a full time offer as well from them. I have worked in my own field since day 1 of co-op. You make contacts with the team and they help you. My team did not have any space but the manager made sure to give me a recommendation and I got the full time offer with my co-op manager's recommendation.

Some universities have co-op programs. They have agreement with local employers to train students at their work places a semester at a time. Students study in university for 1 semester and work at employer location for 1 semester; and repeat again. Students can change employer if they wish. Employers prefer to see the same students back in alternate semesters because training is often progressive. Often, if the students are good, they would receive job offers from these employers upon graduation.
