I want for him the friendships, support, and love that he deserves as a kind and genuine person. Speculation on people’s sexualities, forced outings, feeling the need to control (in Kit’s case increase) food intake, merciless bullying, resulting mental health decline…it’s heartbreaking. Kit played Nick Nelson flawlessly. He is an amazing actor and person and I am a fan for life of him and his work. Just because someone doesn't really look like the book version, doesn't mean it's not a good representation, because what matters is the acting and the story-telling, not the appearance. Plus he's only 18. Agreed. There are many examples of gay actors playing straight characters (Matt Bomer, Neil Patrick Harris, Jonathan Bailey, etc.) and vice versa. An actor's sexuality has nothing to do with their acting abilities or ability to play certain roles. Demanding that an actor share his/her sexuality with the world is just plain wrong, and to me, it's discriminatory. Actors and actresses have the same rights to privacy as everyone else. It is the actor's ability to convey the character and story that is important. An actor's sexuality, native tongue, body shape, hair color and more a talented and dedicated actor can alter to fit the character. Either by changing their voice, coloring, growing or shaping their hair, by slimming or bulking up. In front of almost any role an actor have to do research or training to be able to do his/her character justice. From reading about the periode or setting the character is placed in, to tutored dialect training, fencing, boxing riding, military training, or whatever it might be. When auditioning actors you don't bother with details like body shape or hair color, nor what special skills the actor have that is a match for the role. You only care about whether the actor is convincing portraying the character. As long as the voice and mannerisms convincingly conveys the character, everything else can be adapted afterwards. But if the auditioned actor doesn't convingly convey the character and story, it doesn't matter how much he/she looks like the character, or how much they have in common with the character. According to scientific findings over the last 40 years, presented on CBS 60 Minutes, gays and lesbians can be identified as types. Lesbians are divided into groups of butches and femmes. Gays as queens, straight looking (often wrongly called straight acting) and macho/bear. Butches and queens can be identified already from childhood. Femmes, straight looking and machos/bears are harder to differentiate from straight people, unless they wear clothes that signals they are gay. It is important to note that within the various groups the individuals can be very different from each other. A queen can be athleticly built, a straight looking can be skinny. It is the high pitched voice and certain mannerisms which identifies a queen. Gay men and hetero women also have the part of the brain controling sexuality, among other things, in common. In straight men the hypothalamus, as that part of the brain is called, have a different shape. A study from Berkeley university also found a difference in the length of two fingers with straight men contra gay men. With straight men the study found the finger next to the thumb to be longer than the finger next to the little finger. I didn't know he had to deal with all of that, I mean I knew about him having to out himself from the harra$$ment he was receiving but I truly feel really sorry for him for having to deal with all that he's been through. It's so sad for him to be such an amazing person and people treat him so poorly. It makes me kind of hesitant to try to become an actor like I have wanted to for a long time cause of that. He deserves so much better than what he is getting, and I've read the web comic and watched the show and while yes I noticed a difference in physique, everything else about Kit was perfect for the role. Your interpretation is as big a misrepresentation of the facts as those assumptions made by his detractors. Kit's life is a long way from ruined. He is a strong person with a great career ahead. This is so sad..I know it’s been awhile since this has happened, but that doesn’t matter, I’m just glad he is a professional, and can take the criticism, which was very harsh, and keep working on Heartstopper. The fans have disappointed me..the popularity of the show is still so high though that at least they haven’t cancelled it. And Kit hasn’t decided to leave this production. I don’t know how I would have reacted to this..but Kits a strong young man and he knows what’s good for this story I believe, and that’s why he’s stayed on. I can’t think of many people being so pressured to stay doing something that would make their mentality break so much.. idk, this makes me so sad for him. But at the same time love his strength obviously ♥️

That's what acting is, it's portraying people you aren't in real Life, some times it can be like you in real life, but that's not what acting is all about. If you're going by real life that would make it a real life show and not fiction. It's fictional and so the characters don't have to be like their characters, those so called fans should be ashamed of themselves to treat him that way. It's awful. I am so glad you are touching on this subject so many teens actors have killed themselves or just gone off the deep end because of the pressure that was put on him kick Connor is a loving caring person who would do anything for anybody if they needed it starring in this role, it put a lot of pressure on him because none of his acting or the show but because of the peer pressure from the fans, I believe that he handled himself extremely well. I just wish people would remember this is a show based on reality but at the same time he’s an actor playing in a row. A good actor can put out any performance that is put in front of him and he did just that in heartstopper yes kitten Joe made a great couple and yes, offset they are bonded in friendship in a way that I don’t think even love can overdue which is special cause if you think about it if you’re best friends and you take it to that next step it could ruin that friendship so the way they are now I think it perfect it’s beautiful. They care about each other and I believe that they would be there for each other. My hope is that kit continues on its journey and better himself because there’s so much that he has to give, and I don’t want him to fall into that trap where he’s a young actor, and it ruins his life don’t listen to what people say. Be yourself. Be honest enjoy your life. You’re young only once.
