I had a scaary experience too at age 19. I was working outside on the farm on a friggin hot summer day (it was like 35° Celsius) and I was a bit dehydrated but I kept doing my thing. Until a wasp got into my shirt and stang be right in the armpit. I never had problems with stings before so I just went in the house and let my Mom check if the spike was out, then I continued working. Suddenly I felt like something was more wrong than it was before, my field of view startet narrowing at the edges. I stopped the tractor, jumped down and sprinted into the house. When I opened the kitchen door (my Mom and my Sis were at home, nobody else on the farm that day) I just said: "I'm having a real problem, I can't see." Because at that point my sight just burst into pieces, like old cable TVs when they're off program. Had a shock from that bee sting and a few minutes in my heart rate went to practically 0, I could've been able to say a full sentence between the beats. If my Mom and my Sis weren't there that day keeping talking to me and getting me ice cold watered towels and a foot bath I might've died that day... Sry for the essay. That never happened to me again luckily but it's definitely scary as hell to have a near death experience at this age (I had motorbike accidents before but those are nothing compared to this). I hope the MOAR powa babbe guy will appear in vids again regularly. Best wishes to the crew 👍🏻

It’s possible that Brazil hadn’t adopted the 1 hr time zones in that era. Prior to these time zones, each city would base their local time off when the sun was at its highest using telescopes/observatories to monitor this and drop a time ball at exactly noon to signal noon daily (the origin of dropping the ball on New Years). Unfortunately trains traveling between cities and sharing rails would risk crashing and so the railroads played a big role in standardizing the one hour time zone system in the US. This was in the late 1800s, though. Again, Brazil may have not adopted this system yet or they could be basing the “almost 1 hr” based on the pre-timezone system local solar noon. Thank you for coming to my TEDTalk.

Additional info and pictures here: www.businessinsider.com/fordlandia-henry-ford-city-brazil-rainforest-ghost-town-photos-2018-12 "Fordlandia residents were fed a meatless diet, modeled after Ford's vegetarian eating, and were served things like brown rice, whole-wheat bread, and oatmeal. They were pushed to attend poetry readings and English-language-only singing sessions, and alcohol and prostitution were prohibited. Many workers railed against those restrictions, and some established a bar and a brothel on a nearby island. They called it "the Island of Innocence." Ford also built a dance hall in hopes that his Brazilian workers would take to square dancing as much as he had. In fact, Ford hoped that Brazilians working in the settlement would adhere to every one of the societal expectations he set. But ultimately, workers clashed culturally with Ford's American vision of idealism. The tipping point came in 1930 when the dining hall stopped its wait service and shifted to a self-serve cafeteria style."
