You remind me of my ex-FIL, rest his soul. I like how you explain things, along with showing what you're explaining. You keep right on doing what you're doing. You're doing it right.

Great advice Troy you have learned well I grew up on a active farm we had cows, pigs, chickens and horses along with an assortment of cats and dogs. Fencing was a daily chore on the farm along with feeding that started before breakfast like feeding chickens and milking the cows. Consider me odd but I could hardly wait for fresh morning milk. Grandma every day would have to tell me I had to wait till she could strain the milk first. Because I loved warm milk straight from the cow just didn't get any fresher than that.

Thank you for your time and knowledge sharing. Grew up raising hogs for show and etc. Understand first hand why you need a hot fence for hogs.May you guys have a blessed New Years, and a great 2021. Blessings🙂

Troy - what is all that white stuff? Is that what they call snow? I am in Alabama. We had snow once about a decade ago. We had a run on milk, eggs and bread, then the snow melted the next day. Informative video (as usual).

You might not get the white stuff but you all get that 8 month summer and mosquitos with landing lights!

@@RedToolHouse So true. Many people conceal carry just because of the giant mosquitos that we have. We know a family that refugeed from Oregon. The wife was talking about how bad the humidity was in April. We told her that she had not even seen a taste of what real Southern humidity is like yet.

the problem I have with my two barrows is that they root up the fence posts. They've learned about the wire, but apparently don't care much because I've heard them yip as they bump it several times a day, and then they learned to root up the posts. Game over ! Now they're confined to a shed with a 16x16 ft. runout until processing time. I have 5 acres of heavy woods so it's kind of sad that they won't stay behind the electric fence.
@twestgard24 жыл бұрын
Could you run a drooping loop out near the bottoms of the posts?
@RedToolHouse4 жыл бұрын
I would first check the voltage level of the fence. If it isn’t over 3kv they won’t respect it enough. You could try a low wire with the insulator extensions that keep the wire away from the posts so they will hit it before they can root the post
@sheiladuncan10274 жыл бұрын
@@twestgard2 I tried something like that. It didn't work. They would just flip dirt and sticks over the wire from a short distance away and short the fence out. I know pigs are very smart but these two are almost scarey smart !

How lower for piglet?
@jbbrown79074 жыл бұрын
I move my pigs far more often than you. Often when I'm moving them they are not enclosed in fence. They know that they are going to food and better foraging than they have come from. When the snow gets deep enough to ground out the fence foraging has dwindled to a slow trickle. It is time for them to go to the winter paddock, board fence with as hot wire to keep them from taking the board fence down. By the way. The optimal breeding season ends at midnight on New Years Eve. How many are you breeding? I try for my birthday breeding my sow. The first week in December. Do you now have bred sows?
