In Laurel Park Maryland, Smash's first supermajor returned with Pound 2022, adding another exciting weekend of action to April's busy month of events. Solary's Glutonny took the tournament over T1's MkLeo, claiming his first win at a North American offline major. Hot off the heals of second at Genesis 8, the two players are cementing themselves as one of Ultimate's most explosive friendships/rivalries. Today, we cover the three sets they played as well as some surprise performances from up-and-coming talent this weekend.

@@showmeyourmoves8551 I know that I'm writing about ultimate and HE said that he would never be at this level without MKleo and that the first time they met Leo sort of spotted him, said that he was pretty bad (for a pro player, he was probably top 50/30 at that time) but has immense potential. The one that made Glutonny discover the Smash e-sport scene was Leon and it was during Brawl but the one that made Glutonny a top 5 (at least) player was Leo and it was at the begining of Ultimate.

Yes, you are correct. The biggest tournament that he won would have been in Japan, but most if not all of the player in the top 25 are outside of Japan, except for Amsa.

It was still the highest placement that Yoshi has ever had in a Major though. Unless you count Republic of Fighters 3 (which is a bit contentious because it only had 5 top 100 players for 2014 being Leffen, Armada, Amsa, Ice, and Remen) where Amsa also got 3rd

Seed Performance Rating - It helps show what a person's seed is vs. how they preformed.

@@doubletoz by seeding and placement. For example if someone is a two seed and they get 4th place they would have a negative SPR because they placed under what they were seeded. That’s why I’m not a huge fan of the stat as lower seeded players will have massive positive SPR just by making top 32. SPR by nature will always heavily bias towards lower seeds but doesn’t account for higher seeds facing the top players before they make it to top 4
