In May of this year I turned 52 and I was blessed with purchasing my first Louis Vuitton Damier Azur MM Neverfull and accessories. I raised 7 kids and now have 4 grandchildren, and I finally focused on me just this year. The kids and Hubby always came first. It has been an adjustment in thinking, the guilt was real people, ( over the years I lived vicariously watching you and other youtuber’s). All that info to say that in September I purchased an Alma bb ( I waited 4 months 👀😳lol)❣️This video was filled with amazing advice, thank you for posting this!

I know this is a late comment but I recently as of this year have been watching luxury videos and also just purchased my first LV this year. I can relate to the “guilt” but my kids are older now and I can finally focus on me. My husband has been trying to get me and LV bag for years and I refused

Great tips Jerusha! I also remember my Aunt telling me, there's no point in having an expensive bag if you don't have any money to put in it.

To afford luxury you must A) make good money B) pay your bills on time and own at least one property C) have good savings D) can comfortably buy a purse without looking like a poser! Luxury definitely comes LAST in life. Great video J.

I love your honesty! Your priorities are obviously in proper order, and you just enjoy luxury goods💖 I'm 55, my husband and I have reared our three children, through university and two through weddings. This year I have broken into the luxury market for the first time, and I'm having a blast!! I wouldn't even watch these type videos before, in all honesty, because I knew I couldn't go there.

I really appreciate you being so REAL in this video. I’m just recently doing my research and getting into “luxury” goods just to treat myself after everything I’ve come through. And I NOW, have a position in my career where it requires me to rise to certain occasions and look well put together. But I realize how expensive it can be to meet that standard, and your perspective is realistic and makes soooo much sense. Thank you Jerusha!

My top tip would be....NEVER GO INTO DEBT if you can't afford. Rather than putting these items on Visa cards etc...SAVE SAVE SAVE!!! You will end up paying much more if you can't pay the card off in one go. If you can then that's great. But debt is a bad idea.

Yes to holidays/events! I started my collection this year with a mono speedy b 30 as a gift from my husband :). We agreed that this would be my gift from him for the year, so it would cover Mother's Day, Birthday and Christmas - I got it Mother's Day as that was the first holiday and I was super happy to get what I really wanted and he was happy to not have to think about gifts for the rest of the year! Win/win! Also - another tip to affording I've found is selling clothes, accessories, handbags I don't use any more at consignment - all the money I make from that sale I use for extra spending money! Loved your video Jerusha!!

@churiawebson60907 жыл бұрын
My tip for buying anything costly is to purchase gift cards for that store. That way you can only buy an item from that particular store. $25 here, $50 there, it all adds up. Make sure you know the stores policy on the max amount of gc you can use per purchase.
@michellesmantra16837 жыл бұрын
Love how you said not to put an item on the Wishlist if you can't afford it, and then torment yourself. So great that you set a limit on price that you're willing to spend in the first hand market vs the pre-loved market. Great advice - I'm going to keep that in mind cause I think I'm definitely a sucker for not setting limits on my wish list and "tormenting" myself (well said!)

I love hearing that someone of your ways and life here on KZbin that you have a realistic budget on bags I'm so happy to hear that because I'm the same over $2k is just out of the budget and I normally wait until birthdays or Christmas, love your videos. ❤️

Jerusha, girl thank you to being so incredibly transparent and being a huge advocate for the pre loved market! I think many people that watch think that these bloggers are just made of money and you really set the record straight for yourself. Kudos for that girl! #youdidthat #resalemvp #milflife

So refreshing to hear a luxury KZbinr saying that 2k is their top end for a brand new handbag. I have saved up and been wanting to purchase my first handbag for the past 10 years and it's only now that I have around 1200 gbp to buy one. I have my heart set on the pochette Metis and bought one earlier this year but had to return due to faulty s lock. Still holding out for it but if it doesn't come into stock by Christmas I will get the neverful! Xx
@snoopyandmuffmuffin53587 жыл бұрын
Wait for the Metis it is so versatile, maybe go for black leather empreinte. You will regret the neverfull it is big , floopy and uncomfortable. Personal opinion.

LV is the better bet. More like it than don’t. Plus if you decide you don’t like it you can sell for almost as much as you bought it for. I have two and can’t live without them. A third is on my wishlist.

I love this. I realized my budget a couple years ago and I'm cool with it. Once you come to grips with what you can afford then everything calms down. However I'm going to go over my budget for my 45th birthday in a couple years for my first Chanel Jumbo or Maxi so I'll be saving starting next year. I can totally see how you can afford to spend quite a bit on lux handbags. Your home looks very modest as do your furnishings. Your "closet" looks to be the spare bedroom with "Ikea" type pressed board shelves out together. Not even built ins. All good ideas for a budget conscious family! It's ok to spend $$$ wherever your priorities are. In the States, you could easily drop $60.000. on your backyard built-in pool with pool surround and landscape. That would buy a lot of handbags, but the whole family can swim in the pool! Things have to be considered. I think some of your bags are very nice, and you've prioritized so that you can have them in your budget. To each their own.

There’s a few things on my wish list and for my first even though I want the boutique experience I am leaning more towards resale as I find it more appealing to try out the brand at a price that I can stomach. I want the Louis Vuitton Saumur in 30, Pochette Metis, LV Cles, keychain cles holder, Chanel jumbo double flap in caviar, Chanel GST with silver hardware, Chanel jumbo quilted chevron boy bag with silver hardware, Chanel coin purse, and possibly an LV neverfull. Probably gonna start with the Saumur and cles for my 30th bday.

Thank you Jerusha for such real advice! I see young adults going broke to purchase things. I've been so sad to see afterpay become such a huge thing in the retail industry.
