I am loving the in depth Brotato content. On the topic of skipping Ranger when going down the line of characters, I think Ranger is still a good opportunity to talk about other concepts in the game compared to the more overall All-Rounder video. Concepts like glass cannoning, being more flexible with weapons, notably gun type weapons working well with each other, and switching to rarer weapons later in the game, all of which wasn't really touched on in the first video.

It would be an interesting challenge if Brotato would introduce maps with different geometry. Imagine instead of a square you get a star, a circle, a kettle bell, etc. There could even be an achievement / item for every character on every map - so you can not just pick the easiest map for that character. That would be lovely!

This was great, and having terms to describe movement has made it easier for me to think tactically during my runs. Bracketing is especially useful! If you're searching for ideas for the next run, I'd really appreciate something geared towards Streamer, I have no idea how to build him.

Love the conversation here. Jorbs kind of downplayed played "range on melee is weird" because it is. Its important to know that on melee weapons, range is half as effective, meaning range downs are better on melee weapons than they are on range. Ontop of that, each melee weapon has its own starting range stat, so its hard to generalize how much range you actually want on them. Fists have a very close range while other weapons like swords and spears go further out. Another interesting nuance is the opposite of what Jorbs talked about with your weapons hanging out there with range. On melee weapons if you lose range you gain attack speed. There are two different attack profiles for melee weapons: stabbing and swinging. On stabbing weapons, like fists and knives, if you have a very low range, you can often get your attack speed unnaturally high because the attack reset is bonkers close. While this completely changes how you play your space, it skyrockets your dps so you can run full force into most enemies. Since a lot of elites are much slower than you, you can also easily kite them like a slowdance of death. Its also important to know that your weapon can only apply damage once per enemy per attack, so having a long-lasting reach weapon doesnt work wonderfully against single targets, but its highly effective against hordes. This game is very nuanced. Its so much fun to discover niche interesting effects where a stat being positive can be good on one weapon while bad on another.

I had seen some Brotato content during Early Access (I think I saw Hafu play it first?), and for whatever reason I had never picked it up. After your last video, with 1.0 being out, and with it being 20% off (save a whole dollar!), I finally decided to pick it up. I’ve been having a blast. Most characters unlocked. Beaten with most characters for unlockables, gotten to the point where I feel EXTREMELY comfortable with danger 3, but man danger 4 and 5 are still ROUGH. Happy to watch any content you feel like putting out!

Adore the brotato content, got me to pickup the game and now I'm 2/3 of the way through winning on all the characters on danger 5. Looking forward to seeing your thoughts on characters I struggle on :p

Speedrunners for MANY games often use the concept you called “Tanking.” They refer to it as a “Damage Boost,” where you deliberately expose your character to harm to either complete an objective or abuse things like recoil or invincibility frames. Love this content!

I think 'diving' should be added as a movement type, though maybe its just a complex combo of circle/tank. I think its distinctly used enough to deserve its own callout. But ye, common movement of diving (tanking) straight through the center of the map to get to a safer position. Usually used at end of wave to gather materials to address the downside of circling. Can also be used mid wave sometimes when surrounded while circling. Diving straight through the center can get to the area of the map where no enemies are occupying. ------- oooo also the aggressive wobble? The kind of stutter step when you want to make your way to a specific spot but cant easily get through the mobs. So you kind of inch forward, step back to avoid getting hit, inch forward again, etc...until you get to your desired location (usually for materials). Its fun to think about the little movements we make ( ':

I noticed you said you let the eggs hatch on wave 7 because the large enemies drop more material. I had been playing under the assumption that it is better to kill the eggs instead. The reasoning is that, because the large enemy has so much hp, so they take more time to kill, and time spent killing it is time that could have been spent killing more lesser enemies, and profiting more off of that. What are your thoughts on this? I imagine it's more complicated than a simple yes or no answer, this game really is incredible.

It entirely depends on your single target ttk at wave 7. If you have high single target damage its best to let them live early on as they drop 3 materials instead of 1. Killing an egg in this regard is losing you 2 materials. Later in the wave (if you arnt just cutting through the enemies) it might be better to kill the eggs since its a time investment to kill them. The most important thing to consider about letting the eggs live is whether or not you can survive through the hatched enemies. While killing an egg might only get you 1 material, getting killed by the hatched enemy nets you a death.

I finally did it bro. Thanks to your help and other creators, I defeated Danger 5 with Glutton. Too bad I was really forced to use Pruners and Planks instead of my favorite weapon which are the Explosive Fists.

Don't know about that, but there's definitely a red rarity Spider item you can buy, which improves your attack speed per weapon, so you might be on to something

My original brawler win I needed mass healing(garden,turrets) to cover my mistakes. After watching this, had better center positioning and build and I did a cleaner, easier run.

1:01:21 You don't take a Wandering Bot on shop 18. Why? It seems OP to me - it both gives you more time before melee enemies impact you, doing damage, and slows down enemies near to you inside your kill range, so it seems strong both defensively and offensively.

at 55:55 was not picking up the fist a blind spot or an evaluation that the materials were more valuable than the damage increase?

Id guess a blindspot while he was talking. There is generally never a reason not to upgrade a preexisting weapon if it doesnt require a combination or are playing something like saver. At the very least a lock would be expected.

47:17 Anyone knowledgeable about Brotato to know the answer to that question? Haven't found anything on a quick search suggesting the spawns are different during elites.

They spawn less. I couldn't tell you the rate though. There are some elites that spawn enemies, like the second elite that Jorbs fights.
