I was nervous posting this because of the length- but everything had to happen the way it did, and needed to be told. The biggest lesson Ive learned through this experience is to be consistent and genuine with whatever you’re passionate about. It’ll happen. I promise. ♥️

please don't let BuzzFeed make you think videos need to be 15 mins at the most- that is one of my biggest pet peeves, when vidoes are like 2 mins long. i hate it because it's basically over once it started, and then I have to find something else to watch! you know what the majority of people do? watch playlists so that they don't have to keep clicking! look at Shane Dawson, or all the really popular lets play channels- millions of views, and the videos are 30 mins to hours long! we LIKE watching you, and when it's great content the length is a moot point, in fact the longer the better when it's GOOD. so PLEASE, I encourage you to make lengthy videos! 💜

I truly believe networking always supercedes a degree. Going to college is not everything, it is most of the times a stepping stone or to get you in the door. I admire individuals that have careers that they enjoy, it is more fulfilling. Most of us aspire in that direction but fall short and/or never have a chance. I went to 4 years of college with double majors in Finance and Marketing and it has done nothing for me. All I got were loads of student loans:(

Well, this didn't age well. She quit Buzzfeed because she had an inflated view of herself and her new podcast is bombing. How is she making money now? A secret part-time job? She's wishing she had a college degree right about now. What does Maya say about karma? I think her manifestation wishing well has run dry in 2024.

yo Maya sis can I just say.. what a timely moment it is for me to find this video just now. It's 2 am and I'm sitting in my kitchen in front of my laptop, I just left my corporate job a month ago and I'm trying to rediscover myself again [finding my voice, like in your situation]. Your closing statement really hit me as I'm trying to get myself hired in a different country. It's daunting, but like you said.. the years of preparation wasn't enough to scare us from facing our goals. So I was meant to spend 3 years in a corporate job, and I was meant to leave at a certain time. Thank you! xxx

You are amazing! right now I graduated college like two weeks ago, and it's been so frustrating looking for a job. I'll never regret going to school, but there are things that school cannot teach you. I've always wanted to create, but never had the time. I am told that it's never too late, but it's just a little scary when your family is depending on you... Maybe in the future I'll be able to do something like this, but for right now I'll just keep applying to any job openings.

I love that you did you! I regret going to college, when I look back now I realize exactly what you said all the information I was being taught was outdated. I wish at most I'd only gone community college to learn technical skills like editing or personal finance management. I am proud of you and slightly jealous that I wasn't enough in touch with myself to walk away from college when I knew it wasn't for me. I paid to take freakin geology classes when the career trajectory I was on had nothing to do with geology but because it was a requirement I was forced to do it. The way academia is set up is bullshit.

So I went to vine, looked you up, watched some videos, and thought, dang she’s funny! Ever since then I’ve watched your following grow as well as your talent and awesomeness! I’m so proud of you Maya! I support you so much as a Latina and as someone who genuinely deserves to be where you are at today.
