It’s really motivating for me that even house music wasn’t you main genre on your channel, you just do what you enjoy. As a black african musician who enjoys melodic house tracks too but only plays Afromusic, i’m kind of a afraid to play house as an black artist. I know it sounds very weird but these stereotypes are that much stuck in my head. This video helped me to start thinking differently, thank you!!🙏🏾

That's an interesting perceptive. House was invented by black people. It's in our roots. I think if people in the crowd enjoy what you're playing your color wouldn't matter. Black Coffee plays afro house and he's one of the most popular dj's out there. He's african and only has one hand. Believe in yourself man. The love of music will get you through.

I love that you shared this even though it didn’t go the way you wanted. There are really important lessons here, and shows a realistic perspective of what can happen. You did everything you could though, had the courage to put yourself out there, and have reflected honestly about what to change to get the outcome you want. 10/10!

For the lag on the hot cue, I think that's due to the quantize function. If its set to be 1 beat, it'll snap to the closest beat, so pressing it slightly earlier should help.

No it’s a firmware issue. Really annoying for everyone using 3000s. James Hype refuses to use them for this very reason. I paid nearly 10000 for a cdj setup that I have no confidence in. Come on pioneer sort it out!
@djnitefrog5896
@djnitefrog5896 9 ай бұрын
This issue with lag on the Hot Cue with quantized turned on on the CDJ3000 has been fixed. I have firmware 204 loaded and the Hot Cue is in fact more responsive than the NXS2 also on its latest firmware (1.85) when hitting the hot cue to the beat of the other player. And if you want faster hot cue response without it going to the nearest beat just turn off Quantize! CDJ3000 is a beautiful machine now!❤

Here is my analysis of what went wrong: 1. Outdoor Summer festivals such as this one, people want to hear 125bpm-170bpm bpm music (psy trance, techno, drum&bass, dubstep, EDM crap etc). As in faster and harder. The dj before you was playing that type of sound and had the crowd fully engaged. 2. You played a more sexy/soulful house set which will almost never work in those surroundings. There was a certain level of energy on the dancefloor when the previous dj finished his set which you were not able to follow up with. As soon as you dropped your first track, you killed the energy on the dancefloor. Essentially went from 600 HP Ferrari energy to 125 HP Toyota Prius energy. This is not a knock on you but it's part of the learning process. I actually liked your sounds much better than the previous guy. Your set was better suited for a club than an outdoor festival. Keep it up. This process is a marathon not a sprint.

Love your house music! Awesome tracks you made there! 😃 I am more a «bedroom» DJ myself, but I have played in a club a few times looong time ago. It is all about reading the crowd. I remember one time a clubber came to me after my set and said he loved my set! I only played for like 30 minutes, but I still remember the feeling! That was 23 years ago! I played right after Luis Molinari, a Norwegian-Italian house DJ. I was so nervous. He had just played some funky house with some hard house tracks to end his set. I played some trance/hard trance and the crowd really liked my set! It helped that the club had the exact same Pioneer CDJ players like I owned myself. The now old Pioneer CDJ-100S. Those where the days. A great memory of my very short DJ career. Now I only produce music for fun. 😊

Inspirational and true. Great video! I wouldn’t feel bad about the floor. I’ve had this happen several times and your gut tells you to switch up and play something more commercial to bring the crowd back but if that’s not the dj you want to be it’s hard to remain true to yourself. Props for keeping with your set style and for reading the crowd well enough to know that the tunes you left out for being “too chill” wouldn’t have worked. It’s a process. Best of luck on the adventure!

Don't look too deeply into the crowd situation, I've played shows where there's other bands on other stages that have a bigger following so naturally more people will go that way. lol dang a whole week for a echo transition is crazy! a technique i like to use so you are always on time with hot cue is to make a loop (muted) 8 or preferably 16 bars ahead of the transition.. this means you can set up the beat grid properly with time to spare and you just need to turn up the volume when the transition hits. then exit the loop or depending on the mix i like to mashup my songs and will use multiple loops.

I think you did super well bro. Maybe they should have planned you earlier on the schedule thats all but the good vibe is here and thats what matters in festival. Usually Im that DJ right before that gets all the crowd because I play strong energy electro and house, and quite often the next artist is more chill than me and Im just here before him her because Im less famous. But during festivals what matters is that you show your real you, your universe. In a club set up it's a different thing because emptying the room is really bad. Here you did well, it's a great art performance in my opinion. Great job and good luck for whats next my G
