This is so crazy. I studied fashion merchandising because I thought it would suit both sides of my brain. I also had my own website in my teens and taught myself coding. I just learned what UX design is and I’m so glad I found this video. There were so many parallels! I think I’m making the right career choice this time.

I’ve been watching your videos (every one of them I n order) because I love them all so much! When I got to this one, I laughed. Not at you or the video, but because when I was young I did super similar things as you. My mom would sit me down in front of the pantry & every week after grocery shopping I would reorganize it & I liked doing it. I still love organizing things :) my college experience was kinda similar too, I got a associate degree in fine art taking similar classes as you & then moved the onto my BA in multimedia design & dev with a focuses on graphic & web design. Now I’m getting my MA in UX design, while I’m doing an internship for experience. But, while I was in college I worked in fashion as a visual designer, which at the time I loved. 😊 I grew up closer to the east coast, but moved to SoCal a few years ago & soon I will be moving back over closer to the east coast, lol.

Hello! Ive recently fell in love with the idea of UX design. I never knew it was a thing until a couple of months ago. Im going back to school to receive my bachelors after receiving my associates in general studies unsure of what my career path would be. The two majors I have an option with are Digital Media and Web Technology OR Graphic Communication. would either of these two majors be help to reaching the goal of becoming a UX Designer?

It's hard to know without looking at the curriculum of these two majors but the digital media would probably be more aligned. I have a video on which majors to take, just search for it :)

Definitely not, a lot of people come to the field without being graphic designers first!
