That "Blue Power" sure does look like 100LL Aviation gasoline. I'd bet it smells just like it too. I pumped thousands and thousands of gallons of it in my younger years.

I've been running 100LL mixed with Bel-Ray H1R for yrs now. I've had great luck.

I run 91 octane non-ethanol mixed with Echo red armor oil in all 12 of my saws and other 2 stroke equipment. Never had an issue starting or running any of them. I run Echo, Makita, Stihl and Husqvarna saws.

Years ago, back in the 80s I bought racing gas from Sunoco. It was a heavy lead based gas and it also had a blue tint and a pleasant odor to it. It burned super clean!

The standard pump gas test fuel is Amoco premium ethanol free gas found to be the most consistant octane fuel used for production engine durability and power development by the automotive engine manufacturers, If you're looking for 100 or 110 octane go to the airport for av gas. As a youngster when racing snowmobiles we used av gas and Mercury Marine 50 ; 1 oil and mixed it rich at close to 45 ; 1 My experience has always been that a fouled sparkplug is less costly to replace than piston rings and cylinders.

Hey cotontop.. I went ahead and subscribed.. Love your sawchain sharpening video! And also love reading through the comments and how guys chime in.. I did notice only one guy using the non-ethanol and Amsoil Interceptor 2 Stroke oil. I use to forget to dump the fuel at the end of the cutting season and pay for it dearly in the spring.. having to tear into the carbs & clean out the varnish crap and then fight to get them started.. Since ive been using the Amsoil "Saber" 2 stroke oil 100:1 ive never looked back.. Stihl 660, husky 372 XP wide open in the heat of the summer then leave the Buc-ees 100% in year round.. I will put my exhaust ports and top of pistons against anything else there is & I will be cleaner and last longer.. Thats my 2 bucks worth! Oh yea God Bless all yall!!

I understand what you mean by the stinky smell of gas. My Dad was a private pilot and when I would check the fuel tank sump for water I was always surprised at how the gas didn’t stink.

Higher octane fuel is actually less vulutable... In a non boosted application where the manufacturer only requires 93 octane you are probably losing power

@em4703

That's a myth. High octane just means the gas is less likely to detonate. The moment the spark plug ignites it, its all irrelevant. It burns the same like 89.

I have mixed 110 and 93 for years. I used to race a trx250r and that was my mix for it. I used Belray 2 cycle oil back then. Now I use the VP racing 2cycle oil

Bel-Ray H1-R is the mix oil I run. Came to that decision after running five different oils for almost a year. 40:1 with 91 or better non ethanol gasoline. Would run the motul without hesitation based on my own testing.

I run VP 94 octane non ethanol. My equipment is older from doing lawn maintenance. I don’t run my saws much anymore but they start up right away with this gas and run very clean. Thanks phor sharing!

@em4703
@em4703 20 күн бұрын
I'm sold on the off road version too, allegedly it should also have more detergents than offroad, so it helps with deposits and keeping stuff clean. Every one of my saws looks mint on the inside ever since I started using this, some even with 1000+ hours on it, original piston and jug. 33:1 mix, regular e10 100 octane pump gas (e10 is 5% ethanol in my country). I do run some Aspen alkylated gas through my saws when storing them for more than a week. Keeps the inside protected from benzene/ethanol issues and they start on 1st pull.

Why 102 octane? Do you notice a difference in power or is it just longevity? Does the saw use less fuel? What type of fuel was clogging up the Stihl screens? What oil ratio? I mix 90 and 110 race gas to get 95.
